About this Cook
Over my lifespan I haven't done a whole lot of cooking. A little here and there, but was never very passionate and for a time hated it. I picked up some cooking utensils not too long ago and discovered a hidden desire to make food from scratch for taste and health benefits. (as well as for the pure joy of it) I always have been a baker, but have just now decided to pursue it with a passion to do better and devote more time to it.
My favorite things to cook
My favorites are definitely baked goods, cookies being my favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother made a delicious chocolate chip bundt cake which I myself have never made. I hope to get the recipe from my aunt soon and try my hand at it.
My cooking triumphs
My most recent triumph is what I thought was my ingenuity at the grocery store here in Peru. I so badly wanted to make my favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe on here. However, the grocery store doesn't have brown sugar, so I needed a replacement. I searched the store and found Lucuma syrup, and bought that instead of brown sugar. I used it in my recipe and came up with a delicious Lucuma chocolate chip cookie recipe that my roommates all enjoyed.
My cooking tragedies
So many! As with all chefs.

Vegan Lasagna I
I used soy ground beef instead of tofu, and I loved it. I made this with a group of non-vegans, and they enjoyed it too. It takes a while to cook but is perfect for a large group. It tasted so good. I might have made slightly more of the sauce. Only slightly more. I also recommend putting nutritional yeast in it and sprinkling some on top to add a nice, cheesy flavor. This certainly was the best lasagna I've ever eaten.

Tres Leches 'Three Milks'
Ok, this cake was absolutely perfect. It had just the right sweetness and taste. Definitely the best Tres Leches I've ever had.

Chocolate Cookie Buttercream Frosting
Just the perfect sugar-butter ratio. The frosting is light and not to sweet. The vanilla adds the perfect hint.
