Best Bread Machine Bread

I've made this several times and it turns out great as is! I have substituted olive oil for the vegetable oil and I now reduce the yeast to 2 tsp. which keeps it from rising so much as suggested by another reviewer. I've used flavored olive oil several times and it adds subtle flavor.... Garlic is our favorite, but chili flavored also turned out well....perfect with pasta! My kids now ask if we can have my bread with dinner. Since I can preset the bread machine before I go to work, the answer is yes! Thanks for the great recipe.

Cuban Marinated Steak

I haven't had Cuban steak this good since our vacation in Florida! It was easy and delicious. I served it with cilantro lime rice. I put all the ingredients in a freezer bag and froze it for cooking later. I took it out the night before cooking and thawed in the refrigerator. I broiled instead of grilling. To cold to grill here! I will definitely try this again, already have it together and in the freezer! Maybe we will have a day nice enough to grill. If not, the oven worked fine and my house smelled delicious! Thanks for the recipe!

Applesauce Cake IV

This recipe had me scared for a bit. Read the review about the batter being too thick and upon mixing it seemed to be. I left out the raisins because my kids don't care for them, otherwise it was by the book. Poured (plopped?) the thick batter into the pan and smoothed it out. Baked it and everyone said it was delicious. My 6 year old is asking to make it again because it is so good! Thanks for the perfect cake!

Spicy Chicken and Sweet Potato Stew

I tried this recipe as a way to use up some Thanksgiving Turkey. I substituted turkey for the chicken, used chicken broth in place of water as suggested in the reviews, used black beans instead of kidney, and added 1 can of Rotel tomatoes for extra spice. It turned out terrific! This just might become a tradition! It was so good, I'm going to try a vegetation option for our non meat friends. Thanks for the great recipe inspiration!

Sweet Corn Bread

I've made this twice now. The first time I followed everything except I substituted Greek yogurt for sour cream. It was very good and my kids liked it so much they requested it tonight. I substituted apple sauce for the butter and again used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream. It was even better. Thanks for the recipe and we will be eating this a lot this cold winter season!

Greek Lemon Cake

Great cake! I used a bundt pan since I don't have a tube pan. I used Greek yogurt, all purpose flour less 2 tbs per cup, and 1/2 cup applesauce for 1/2 of the butter. I dusted with powdered sugar and it was terrific....even the kids liked it!

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

I made this dough for my daughter's 8th birthday party. I tripled the recipe and divided the dough into pieces. Each child was able to make their own pizza. I made the dough just as written x 3 and it was perfect. The girls said it was better than the pizza parlor!

Baked Omelet Roll

We love this recipe. I do heat the pan in the oven first. I also process all the ingredients in the blender to make sure it's smooth and fluffy. I tried it with less flour, but we like it just as written. My 7 year old requests rolled egg nearly every weekend.

Slow Cooker Macaroni and Cheese I

This is a great recipe! I made it for my daugher's parent potluck dinner and it turned out great. I doubled the recipe and added 1 tsp dry mustard, 1 tsp paprika, and 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper to the mix. Several people have asked for the recipe. This is a keeper!

Slow-Cooked, Texas-Style Beef Brisket

I loved this recipe. The largest brisket I could find was not quite 8 lbs. I have a large oval crock pot and had to fold the brisket (fat side up) to fit it in the pot. I added the coffee and set the timer for the max...20 hours. After 4 hours, I added the other 4 hours. We ate it the first time right out of the pot without sauce. I shredded it and added the sauce for our second dinner. It was good as well.
