Elephant Ears

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
Wow! This dough was divine! My advise - mix all the wet ingredients and start adding flour slowly. Keep adding only until your dough is no longer sticking to your fingers but is still very soft. You may use more or less flour than provided in the recipe. This way you get a beautiful fluffy and soft end product. Flours vary in their gluten levels, etc. so following the recipe exactly might not give you the best result. This dough would be wonderful for sopapillas, doughnuts, dumplings, paczkis, etc. Definitely a keeper!

Savory and easy to make. Can be frozen for later, too!

Microwave Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
I used mugs and found the cake to be... how to best describe it... dry but also gooey - nothing like the traditional method. My boyfriend and I ate only 3 out of the 12 mugs that were made. We usually love cake, but this was too different for us.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
I only made 10 smokies today - wanted to try the recipe before tomorrow's party. They were easy to make and came out delicious! They had just the right amount of the saltiness from the meats and the sweetness from the sugar. Perfect combination. I'll be making lots more tomorrow :)

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2011
Love this recipe. I used coconut juice instead of beer and it definitely had the coconut flavor! I also made the orange marmalade sauce - my boyfriend and I loved it. Next time I will try making a raspberry sauce. Can't wait!

Kapusta

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2010
I am Polish - and I'm not just saying it - I immigrated to the US six years ago from Poland. This dish is actually called "bigos", not kapusta. You make it with mushrooms for Christmas Eve dinner - no meat for the Polaks that day. On all other occasions, we add kielbasa, bacon, or some pork meat instead. You can add some tomato paste to amp up the flavor. Bay leaf will also aid with the flavoring. You can make it just with the fresh cabbage or just with the sauerkraut - depending on what you like. Also - I've never heard of adding sugar to it - cut it - you won't miss it. One last thing - we make it in a pot on the stove. Originally, it's not a baked dish, rather, it's cooked.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2010
Delicious! AND super easy to make. It's a keeper. The only comment - I don't think it makes 12 servings - if so - they're very small servings - will leave you wanting more. Thanks for sharing this, though! Loved it!

Conchas (Mexican Sweet Bread)

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
So much work for nothing. It wasn't even eatable. After adding all the ingredients, the dough didn't rise - I'm guessing it wasn't warm enough. The amount of salt is way too much, they weren't even sweet. I love conchas and followed this recipe closely.
