My children and I
About this Cook
I love to cook delicious food for my family and friends! My two children are my world Olivia and Oliver! My cooking tailors to my husband and kids as much as possible but is still "grown up" and healthy. I like to find good recipes that are new and interesting or comforting and old-fashioned. I have a good sized garden, that usually holds bell peppers, tomatoes, green onions, sweet or snow peas, some kind of gourd or cukes, and bulb type onions as well. We also have 6 chickens that free range in our fenced in backyard, who lay eggs and will eventually make it into the heavenly land of chickens (our freezer).
My favorite things to cook
Breads, Mexican and oriental foods, popcorn shrimp, and cherry delight. Any meat that can be grilled or made into shish kabobs with veggies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Making shish kabobs is a family affair! After the meat and veggies have sufficiently marinated, we all gather around the table to skewer the delicious morsels. It's lots of fun and we spend great family time doing it!
My cooking triumphs
I recently had a hankering for buffalo chicken filled buns so I went into creation mode and they are a huge hit with my family! So far I've made three different flavors: buffalo chicken (my favorite), cheeseburger (kids' favorite), and BBQ pulled pork (husbands' favorite) buns.
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make a cheesy ham and potato casserole by scratch. It took forever, and what's worse, it was a disaster! We ended up throwing it all down the disposal and going out to our favorite Chinese place. My husband has also learned never to let me bake cookies. I can't bake them! Even simple chocolate chips are ruined! It's most embarrassing, so he does the cookies - which are very good!

Pork Chops with Raspberry Sauce
First time I followed the recipe, was very good, made some tweaks and now its awsome. Doubled the seasoning rub, left out the butter that was to be fried with the oil, but put it in to finish the raspberry sauce. Both times I did not have Raspberry jam, so I subbed with rasperry spread, and the second time I was out of orange juice so I used lemon in its place, still absolutely fabulous! This recipe is so forgiving, you've got to try this! Restaurant quality!
