About this Cook
I'm a recent empty-nester who's always looking for recipes! I love cookbooks and have quite a collection. I'm trying to learn a whole new approach to meals, being just two people in our home now. I love to cook for people, but just don't get to do it that often these days. My husband and I both like to entertain and cook for friends.
My favorite things to cook
Healthy recipes with lots of grilled and roasted veggies. I like to cook ahead and freeze things. Soups, stews, comfort foods in the winter, light and healthy in the summer!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Cooking for the holidays has to be my favorite. Christmas or Thanksgiving or July 4th, food has always been a big part of my families holiday traditions.
My cooking triumphs
If I listed those, one might think I was bragging! I am a good home cook, but am always striving to be better.
My cooking tragedies
We all have them - don't we? :)

Beer Can Chicken
This is such an easy recipe to prepare. My husband cooked it on the Big Green Egg and it was moist and tender. The flavor is good enough to use leftover chicken in just about any dish, too.

Excellent Broccoli Cheese Soup
This is similar to a recipe I have made in the past. I really like it and followed it exactly with the exception of the finish. It was a little thin so I added about a 1/4 cup of instant potato flakes as it was heating to serve. I also take a potato masher and lightly mash the broccoli. Very easy and quick to make too.
