My favorite family cooking traditions
My aunt Kay taught me how to make this recipe when I was ten. Trifle! She was from Whales my Mother is from Whales also. Great recipe, very presentable too. Patience is the key to a good Trifle.
My cooking triumphs
I think I make the best chiken pot pie Ive ever had. Very simple recipe. Everyone I make this for says its the best they've ever had. Got the recipe from a Martha Stewart magazine then changed it up.

Black Bean Turkey Burgers
I just made these for lunch and they were delicious. I used shredded mozzarella, Italian breadcrumbs and egg whites. I skipped the onion mix and just seasoned with garlic, pepper, cayenne and cumin. I'm freezing the leftovers for next week. Yum!! I cooked the burgers in a non-stick pan on low-med heat and covered for a few mins, flipped only once.

Mexican Bean and Rice Salad
I love this, I cant stop eating it. I've made this for friends at work for Cinco de Mayo. I'm not sure if I should serve this hot or cold with tortilla chips and a side of sour cream. I did omit the kidney beans and just went with black beans. Definitely use a fresh squeezed lime over the top. Delicious!!

Fried Black-Eye Peas
To make this a little healthier try cooking in Olive Oil instead of butter and veggie oil. I also used turkey bacon, an egg white to keep together and lightly dusted with flour. This will cut down on the calorie intake. Thanks for a great recipe!
