About this Cook
I have been(mostly)a stay at home mom for the last 20 years, I have 3 adult boys, two have moved back home and soon it may be three. My husband and my boys LOVE my cooking(it shows some)as does my dog.
My favorite things to cook
I love to take traditional food and add some jazz to it. Ive been told I make a great apple pie!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a midwest farm background. The milk was always fresh the meat was farm raised and there was always a large garden behind the house. My first food memories are of grandma cooking potatoes in the cast iron skillet and grandpa bringing in the fresh milk and eggs.
My cooking triumphs
I have had many holiday dinners serving 20-30 people and I have always had satisfied reviews. My family loves my sushi which I perfected after losing our favorite sushi restaurant.
My cooking tragedies
When I first got married(very young)I tried to be impressive by making calamari. I figured I would just bread it and fry it like fish. I washed them and fried them whole. They tasted like rubber fish heads and the smell stayed in our apartment for days.

Stuffed Leg of Lamb with Balsamic-Fig-Basil Sauce
This was one of the best leg of lamb I have ever cooked! I did not change a thing!

Slow Cook Thai Chicken
This is a great recipe for a busy day, I usually make Thai chicken the slow way. The only thing I changed was some Thai basil instead of cilantro. Serve over sticky or jasmine rice.

Roasted Butternut Squash Soup with Apples and Bacon
I love this dish, I have made it several times and have modified it each time depending on my ingredients. I add much more curry and also a pinch of cayenne. I frequently leave out the bacon. I usually get my apples, cider and Squash from the farmers market and the quality and freshness really change the flavor. I have also garnished the soup with toasted coconut, Yum!
