Four Egg Yellow Cake

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
This was not my favorite cake recipe...I thought the texture was wonderful - light and fluffy. I gave the low rating because of the taste. The cake was fairly bland. In fact, I thought it tasted most like flour. I will look for a new recipe the next time I want a yellow cake.

Nutty Granola II

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
My favorite, non-sugar recipe. It's a great base - I change the recipe all the time based on what I have in my cupboards. I like to put pistachios (because the green color makes it so pretty!) and quinoa. I have used pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds and often use dried blueberries. Change up the flavors by adding vanilla, cinnamon or molasses. Yum!

Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
I made this for a family gathering and everyone loved it! Easy to make and completely addictive. I used wing sauce instead of hot sauce (because that's what I had on hand) and used a bit more than was called for in the recipe. This is my new go-to for potlucks and sporting events!

Carrot Cake XI

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
Very good! This cake has great flavor and is very moist. Personally, I think the recipe calls for too much oil - the only reason I didn't give a full five stars. I cut the oil down to 3/4 cup and the cake was still soooo moist. I also added a bit more spice (some ginger and nutmeg) along with the cinnamon. I will always use this recipe (with modifications).

Amish White Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
I have made this bread several times, and I absolutely love it! I have substituded olive oil for the vegetable oil, and the results were wonderful. I usually make one loaf of white, and add raisins and cinnamon to the other loaf - so yummy! I don't need to try any other white bread recipe - this is it!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2010
The best banana bread recipe I have ever tried! And I have tried so many recipes - and they all seemed the same. This bread was moist, but not heavy. The sour cream made for great texture and flavor. I also loved the addition of dusting the pans with cinnamon sugar. Added a wonderful sweet crunch to the bread. This is the recipe I will use for now on.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2010
Excellent recipe. The dough is very rich, and makes for a dense, and yet, fluffy cinnamon roll. I usually double the butter/cinnamon/sugar for the middle of rolls, but there is no need for this recipe - there is plenty of filling to make the middle of these rolls yummy and flavorful. There is a LOT of cinnamon - which I really liked, but I wouldn't add anymore. I will absolutely make these again.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
I absolutely love theses pretzels! The taste is absolutely delish - they were a big hit for both adults and children. The dough is extremely stiff, but if you knead the heck out of it, it smooths out (and after the full hour of rising, the dough is a dream to work with). I brushed some of the pretzels with melted butter when they came out of the oven and then covered them in cinnamon sugar - out of this world!

Mom's Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
I really liked this frosting - great texture (I didn't have the problems with lumps like some reviewers), and not too sweet. Next time I might try using more butter and less shortening, or even all butter. I think this is my new go-to frosting!

Banana Pancakes I

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
My family loved these pancakes - the only change I made was to use applesauce instead of the oil. My 2 year old ate 6 pancakes!!! Easy and so very yummy.

Sour Cream Chocolate Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2010
I absolutely love this frosting! The consistency was nice and firm, yet still fluffy. I really like the tang from the sour cream - added just enough flavor to make this frosting special. The only reason I didn't give the frosting 5 stars is because I altered the type of chocolate used - I used 3 squares of bakers chocolate instead of the chips. I did this because of the reviews stating that the frosting was too sweet. I wanted a big batch of frosting, so I wanted to use all of the sugar. With this substitution, I thought the flavor was perfect - not too sweet and not too bitter. I will use this recipe (with modification) over and over!

Peanut Butter and Banana Smoothie

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2010
Loved it! I used a frozen banana because I like my smoothies cold. Great flavor and texture - my 2 year old loved this, and I feel great giving him a drink that has less sugar and more protein (and I didn't have to buy any special ingredients - all things that I normally have in the house). Yum!

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
Very good and easy to make. I thought the pudding itself was nice, but with the sauce it is very yummy. Makes LOTS of sauce, I didn't need to use all of it. I also cut back on the sugar in both the pudding and sauce (not by a lot, but just a little).

Sugar Cookie Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
Very easy to work with and makes for beautifully decorated cookies. This is definately more of a glaze than an icing.

Super Easy Doughnuts

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
I agree with the name of this recipe - super easy! These cake doughnuts were fluffy and light, and tasted wonderful. My kids couldn't stop eating them (and honestly, neither could I). I tossed them in a combo of powdered sugar and cinnamon.

Potato Bacon Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
I really liked this recipe - the whole family ate it up. When my husband walked in the door, the first thing he said was "What smells soooo good?" - great sign that dinner is going to be a hit. Easy to make and reheats well.

Lower Fat Banana Bread II

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2010
My entire family enjoyed this bread - which meant my kids didn't even realize this is a low fat version! Yummy and moist. I did make two changes - I used a 1/2 cup applesauce and omitted the oil, and I used 1/2 whole wheat flour. I wrapped the bread in foil to "steam" the loaf to ensure it was moist. I think this is my new go to banana bread recipe.

Tater Tot Casserole II

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2010
This casserole was very easy to put together and tasted pretty good. My husband and sons ate it up. Very rich and filling, which makes it a perfect comfort food. I added ground beef and corn to the soup/sour cream mixture along with a splash of milk (I did this to make it a one dish dinner). I will make this again.

Excellent biscuits! They were very light and I really liked the taste. Not at all greasy like traditional biscuits - which made me like them even more.

Stuffed Green Peppers I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
These were a big hit! I absolutely loved the flavor and they were a snap to pull together. I made 3 minor changes - I added some garlic to the beef and onion, I used a can of crushed tomatoes (I like the texture better than diced tomatoes) and I used a bit of brown sugar in the canned soup topping. This recipe is deffinately a keeper!
