Carrot Cake III

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
This cake is awesome as is...I was going to change it basd on what others recommended, lke using half brown sugar, applesce, pineapple and stuff...but i didnt have any of it on hand so i followed the recipe exacly the way its written and the resus are amazing!! SOOO much better than the box mixes and i didnt even make the frosting--to make it a low calorie and less fat. STILL YUMMY!! i made this again today after a logn time, and i used the cream cheese frosting II on this stie by jannie. very good combo. love it. --update....using half applesauce and half oil reduces the oilyness and greasyness of the cake the next day without taking away from the taste

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2011
This one does taste like applebees!!! YAY. I followed the recipe exactly with the exception of using garlic powder for the roasted garlic, to save myself time. I also used Classico roasted garlic afredo sauce, and only 1 cup mozzarella. Soooo good!!!!

Tiramisu II

Reviewed: May 28, 2012
I wa sso nervous abt this one, bc the ignredients are expensive and also the issue of cooking the eggs. My first batch of eggs, I cooked too much and threw it out. I knew bc it was lumpy and looked scrambled...The second one I followed the directions to a T, and I got a smooth custard. I learned you have to dip the ladyfingers in the coffee ( I didnt use rum bc I didnt have), if you dont dip the ladyfingers and just drizzle it, it doesnt get soaked as much it just stays dry. Besides that, the taste was amazing and only gets better and better...3 days later Im still eating it!!

Cool Whipped Frosting

Reviewed: May 29, 2011
my family loved this i thought it was pretty good 5 stars because its really easy and really light. i don't care for frosting that's heavy and too sweet this one is perfectly a moderate amount of sweet i use it for white almond wedding cake on this site which is a dense cake so it pairs well. yes, it does taste like cool whip but thats basically what it is. im sure it would be betetr with fresh whipped cream but i dont have a hand mixer so i had to do withh coolwhip but it turned out great bc everyone loved it.

Strawberry Trifle

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
This is truly the perfect light dessert after a heavy meal. This is what I used, french vanilla pudding, real whipped cream, strawberries blueberries and bananas and ladyfingers sprinkled w milk(bc I wanted them to taste like cake, not cookies). Perfect, and make a lot! prob 15 servings or so...reminds me of strawberry shortcake. Tis recipe is very versatile as you can use almost any fruits/pudding/cake. For the person who had a soupy mess, make sure you dry ur fruit after washing. I put mine in a strainer to get all the liquids out. Enjoy!

I did not expect this to come out as good as it did...with so many little ingredients and the level of ease this recipe requires. but i was surprised and ended up loving it. it was a hot day and i was lookign for a light pasta dish, i also used campanelle because its so pretty and diced tomatoes. great way to get your veggies in!! also i used chicken, since i dont eat pork.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
I reallly liked it, esp with the pecan crumble topping it gave it a diff texture than just mushy potatoes...I micorwaved 6 potatoes for abt 10 minutes, and they were soft enough to mash!! This made me happy because I just couldnt deal with boiling for so long. Also I used only 1/4th cup sugar with the sweet potatoes

Mexican Bean Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2011
I just made this and it was amazing! similiar to a dish ive had in a turkish restaurant called piyaz. i did everything the recipe said except i used half the olive oil and half the red wine vingear and it was just the rght amount of dressing also 1 tbsp of sugar is fine.i left out the corn bc i was trying to replicate the turkish salad which doesnt use corn.I will make this often love it . UPDATE--Ive also used this dressing on a "greek pasta salad"...rotini, tomato, cucumbers, fresh bell peppers, red onion, and feta...THE BEST!!!

Spanish Flan

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2010
REALLY GOOD, next time ill just leave out the sugar bc it didnt really caramelize or harden it just melted and left a really really sweet layer on the bottom that i didnt rly like. *****update--ive been making this recipe as is, but i felt it was too too sweet so i cut the condensed milk by 1/4 and it was better. it was still a little sweeter than i like so i think itll be perfect next time if i use only half the can of condensed milk. also water bath did nothing for me.

Chicken Scampi II

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
i just made this, so i had to share how good it is. probably not the healthiest, but i did adjust per some reviews and did abt 3 or 4 tsp of (smart balance) butter, and maybe 2 tbsp of olive oil. i used abt 4 cloves of garlic, and around 2 tsps of italian seasoning. i also used chicken tenderloins coated in flour. i thought there wouldnt be enough sauce, but i added some bell peppers and red onions and that gave it some moisture. i cooked for abt 15-20 minutes, and theyw ere perfect. very easy, ill deff make this again. also to serve with this i made" pasta e olio" on this site

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2011
I just made this, and I have to share how amazing it tastes! Almost if nto as good as restaurant quality.... I skipped the entire marinade recipe though, and used the Shaan Chicken Tikka Spice Mix...which you too can find in your indian grocery. I marinated for abt 2 hrs with the mix, some ginger garlic paste and some lemon... Then I followed the rest of the directions but instead of butter i used ghee sauteed onion, green chiles, and garlic in ghee...and used tomato sauce and half and half and cream... DELISH!

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2011
delicious and healthy, doesnt get any better. esp on a hot summer day this is a light meal and even my meat loving brother told me more than once how tasty this is. that says a lot! i also sauteed the garlic, half olive oil half butter and added some salt n pepper on the fish. also i found pouring the leftover juices over the fish at the end results in more flavor, since the meatier parts of the fish can taste bland inside.
