This was just ok. Will not make it again! Waste of pound cake!

Banana Pudding IV

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
What a fun dessert! I prepared this for a potluck and it was the first to go. I had a very large straight sided bowl, so I actually made this recipe plus another half recipe. Do make it the day before, it softens the vanilla wafers some. Thank you!! A keeper!!

Shrimp Burritos

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2005
Sorry, but these were pretty bad. I made the recipe exactly as presented, with all the ingredients that were listed. Besides all the pans, which another reviewer mentioned, I just couldn't get past the taste of refried beans and shrimp! The rice was good, there was way to much garlic salt for the beans. They only need perhaps half as much. I think I would have rather had a shrimp taco instead of this. It was just way over the top. My husband only ate half of his! Sorry :(

This was a huge hit at a potluck supper. Nothing left of the salad. Everyone wanted the recipe.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: May 9, 2005
This is very good, I did change a few thing though. I cooked the chicken in a bit of olive oil first instead of boiling. I find that the chicken is a lot more tender that way. I also cooked the celery, carrots and added sliced mushrooms in the same pan with a little oil just to soften them, then proceed from there.

Pasta Puttanesca

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
Very easy to prepare. Served to the grandchildren (7-13) and they loved it. Please use the anchovy paste. If you can't find paste, just make your own by mashing up a coupe of anchovy's, it makes the dish.

Aunt Dee Dee's Apple Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2004
Thank you Lisa for a wonderful coffee cake recipe! The directions were perfect, the only exception was that I used a teaspoon to place the apple slices exactly where I wanted them. It seemed that there may not be enough, but by doing it this way, there were pieces of apple in every bite! Moist and delicious, I will make this coffee cake often.

Lemon Mushroom Herb Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2004
This was very very good! As the other readers said, there was waaaaay to much flour mixture. I would cut in half next time. I served it over fettuccini noodles, which I started when I added the liquid ingredients over the chicken. Everything came together at the same time! Don't cook to long though, the time for cooking the chicken was just right. You could cut the chicken breast with a fork!

Portobello Mushroom Ravioli with Prawns

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2004
I am so sorry Michelle, but I did not care for this recipe. First of all, the portobello mushrooms (because they are so dark), made the sauce turn so dark gray that it ruined the look of the dish. The sauce was very watery (no amount of simmering would help). It never did thicken up! I took the shrimp out way before the sauce was ready to put on the pasta, otherwise they would be rubbery. If I make this again, I will saute the shrimp and mushrooms separately and start from there. I will not use the portobello mushrooms again, perhaps just white button. The lemon and wine tasted very good, but this recipe overall was a huge disapointment. Sorry:(

California Italian Wedding Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2004
This was a very refreshing soup. The lemon zest was perfect and the meatballs were wonderful. Make them small, so you get one in each spoonful of broth. Thank you, for this recipe I will be making it often!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
I wasn't fond of these chops. They were a bit to heavy for our liking. I guess I can't beat "shake and bake". They always turn out tender and juicy.

Ginger Shrimp with Fried Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
These shrimp were delicious! I was very pleased with the flavor and the ease of preparation. The time it took to prepare was well worth the effort. I will make these again soon. I did not care for the rice. I make my fried rice from brown rice that I make the day before. I put a little peanut oil in the frying pan and quickly cook the cold brown rice with a little green onion. I then scramble 2 eggs off the side of the pan and incorporate this in the rice dish. You can add cooked peas, or almonds, etc. . .

Cannoli I

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2004
I'm sorry to say, but this recipe did not turn out well at all. I followed everything to a T, but the cannoli shells were thick and tough. The filling was way to sweet, and chocolate chips were too big. I think if I make this filling again, I will use the powdered sugar and perhaps mini chocolate chips. I will resort to purchasing the cannoli shells the next time. They are crisp and light. Sorry. . . :(

Chicken or Turkey Tetrazzini Deluxe

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2003
I followed the recipe exactly and I found that the dish came out rather sticky. Actually, I'm looking for a creamy Tetrazinni and this just wasn't the one. I will not be making this again. Sorry about that.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2003
This recipe was great! I followed it almost to a T. The only change I made was that I used a can of diced tomatoes and one whole onion instead of 1/2. The flavor was excellent and the grand children ate the whole batch. (Even the 5 year old). Thanks for a great quick recipe!

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2003
This recipe was very easy to prepare, and it smelled wonderful cooking all day. The meat was tender and juicy. I would recommend that you add only 1/2 of the jar of pepperoncini. The whole jar was just a bit to overpowering. Otherwise, the sliced cheese and sub rolls were perfect! Thanks for a great dinner.

Creamy Caramel Flan

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2003
I love flan, and I liked this one very much. The only problem with this one is that it is quite thick and a little more like a creamy cheese cake. The flavor was pretty good, you could taste the sweetened condensed milk though. I think I will stick to the more standard baked custard type of recipe, those seem more light after a heavy meal of "enchaladas".
