The picture on my posting is of my maternal grandmother, who is the only grandparent I ever knew. She was a terrible cook who's answer to fine dining was to fry EVERYTHING! Even so, I still felt this was a good place to give her honor! RIP Nanny!
My favorite things to cook
Being a diabetic am always on the lookout for low carb and sugar-free recipes. Love to cook but detest long hours in the kitchen so quick and easy is my goal. First rate fresh ingredients is the key.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother (taught by her mother, I believe) made the best Mac & Cheese ever! There was no recipe and it was all by sight. I never mastered it but thank goodness my sister did. However, I can do her shortribs so it's a good trade-off.
My cooking triumphs
I make a killer New York cheesecake but only for very special occasions. The topping is all glazed fresh fruit and it is beautiful as well as delicious.
My cooking tragedies
The last time I made Lentil soup was a disaster - and it was for a small dinner party. It was so thick we couldn't even eat it and it slid out of the soup pot like a lump of cement. Hard as I tried, it wouldn't thin out with all the usual methods. We ended up calling for pizza!!!!!
