About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Cooking with produce straight from my garden is hands down my favorite but anytime I can use fresh produce versus canned I'm happy. I also like making everything from scratch instead of using store bought dough, cake mixes, etc. I love Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavors but also enjoy cooking Italian and Mexican for my less food-adventurist boyfriend.
My cooking triumphs
Baking bread and such- I can whip up dough for rolls, pizza, calzones, etc. without following a recipe. Stuffed grapes leaves- even though they're time consuming the giant batches I make from memory are so worth it. Steak- I was never a fan until a professional chef moved upstairs and I watched him cook. Now, following his techniques, I cook a perfectly seasoned, restaurant quality steak and love it!
My cooking tragedies
Spinach pie like the ones sold at my favorite Lebanese deli. I cannot get the right spice profile for the filling.

Breaded Toasted Ravioli
This is such an interesting way to cook ravioli! Like other reviewers I coated in flour, used the whole egg, and used panko instead of breadcrumbs which I seasoned with garlic powder, salt, italian seasoning and red chili peppers for a kick. Unfortunately I didn't have parmesan cheese or cooking spray. They did come out dry (maybe because of no cooking spray- I'll buy some next time) but the dipping sauce (I used chunky garden spaghetti sauce) made it a non-issue. Four stars instead of five because this isn't something I would make on a regular basis. Might use this recipe again for finger food for a party.

No Bake Bumpy Peanut Butter Nuggets
These were excellent! The only reason I gave this recipe four out of five is because I'm not going to waste a canister of juice concentrate for 1/4 cup (I don't make/drink fake juice). I subbed honey like other reviewers said and they turned out perfect! I eyeballed the cinnamon because my measuring spoons are packed for a move, probably added too much but still tasted great! The daycare kids I had for the day and my pregnant-picky sister loved them! I'll be making these again and again and experimenting with different ingredients.

Devils on Horseback
I made these for Thanksgiving appetizers and everyone LOVED them. They were gone within 10 minutes. Go easy on the brown sugar like other reviewers suggested. I was in a hurry and used too much- my fault not the recipe- but they were still great. Very rich and flavorful.
