Black Treacle Scones

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
Everyone loved these! We made them for St. Pat's day. The only change I made was to add about 4 tbs of sugar. We wanted it a little sweeter. I will probably start making these instead of biscuits. They were moist and flaky and had a great flavor.

Irish Potato Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Made this the way I usually make potatoe soup with regular milk and velveeta cheese. I just used the idea of the bacon. We use hamburger usually. It was an instant favorite! We have made it more than once already and will make it again for sure. My daughter wanted it for her birthday.

Bread Machine Challah for Shabbat and Festivals

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
It was okay, a pretty loaf, but kind of plain tasting. Not bad, but have had better with less work. I used more surgar.

Maple Bacon Pancake

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2010
I have made this 3 times now and we like it because it is quick to make up and all the kids like it. I use my own pancake recipe and it works well. The last time I made it, I put some left over pumpkin puree and pumpkin spice in it. A big hit! We always use sausage (maple flavor) because I never buy bacon. This is a versatile, convenient, easy recipe that is simple enough that my picky eaters like it. Thanks for the idea!

Easy Valentine Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 8, 2010
These were very pretty and festive looking, but I prefer my own sugar cookie recipe. These reminded me of the frosted soft sugar cookies at walmart.

Perfectly Moist Irish Wheaten Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2010
Just not something that we would make again. None of the family was really crazy about it. It was fun to try once.

Chewy Brownie Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2013
I made them exactly as written, but I wasn't impressed. They really weren't that chewy. They were ok, I was expecting more of a brownie type cookie. They were just a chocolate cookie and I have a recipe that I like much better for a chocolate, chocolate chip cookie. They did get eaten by the kids, but they all said they liked my other recipe better. I guess when we want something like a brownie, we will make brownies. :)

Homemade Chocolate Sandwich Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I wasn't crazy about these when we made them, but the next day they were much better. They were a little too cake like at first, but they firmed up by the next day and reminded me of the little debbie chocolate sandwiches you can buy.

Sue's Hot Fudge Sauce

Reviewed: May 1, 2014
We have made this several times now and it is a family favorite! It is good just the way it is, but I like to cut the sugar to 2.5 cups, I also add a half teaspoon of salt. AMAZING!!! It is better, with real butter than margarine, but works either way. It is simply the best I have ever had and I am a picky eater!

Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Just about the best chocolate frosting ever! Everyone loved it. Will use it many more times I am sure. I would let it set in the fridge for a little while next time before frosting the cake. It was a little soft. It made plenty, we had left overs after a normal sized cake.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
This was a huge hit with everybody. Easy to make. I liked using the tenderloin, so that there was less fat. Very tender and a nice flavor. Will try it again with different types of bbq sauce. We used hickory, honey, bbq. Will also start sooner next time so that it will cook longer. I think it would be even more tender that way. We were hungry and ate after about 6 hours.

Mini Meatloaves

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I changed somethings, like adding pizza sauce and not as much milk. It was too soft for my liking, but I am not a meatloaf fan. Most of the family liked it. But they weren't raving.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Very good! I would make it again, only use something different for the dumplings. The whole family liked it. It was really good left over. I added a little milk and cheese and warmed it up.

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
The whole family loved this! We were looking for something to make for St. Pat's Day, so we made this with the black tracle scones. Great combo for my family. I made a few changes based on what I had on hand. I used a little beef gravy instead of beef broth. Onion powder instead of onions and a touch of sugar in the beef. We will make this again for sure.
