No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2013
Im giving this 5 stars, even though i slightly changed a few things, based on the reviews. I doubled the recipe, to make a 9x13 dish. I did however NOT double the butter. I used only 1 cup of butter, and 1 cup of applesauce instead. Also used 4 cups of Oats, and 2 cups of coconut flakes. And added about 1/2 cup of chocolate chips into the oatmeal mixutre, once off the heat, so there would be something crunchy in the bars. My bars have only been chilled for 3 hours, and seem on the softerside... but thats beause of the apple sauce. Definatly will slice, and move them to the freezer, so they will be handy to pull out during the holiday season.

Unbelievable Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2013
well just pulled these out of the oven, and had my 1st one, and boy are they good! This was my 1st time making homemade buns of any kind, and im really proud! I did add the salt with the flour based on other reviews, and also used butter in place of margerine(just cuz i prefer butter in any sort of baking). Before popping them in the oven i did a egg wash on them aswell. I got 24 decent sized buns! Will definatly be making these again, maybe adding some cheese and or bacon to the dough before shaping them into rolls, for something different, or topping them with honey for a sweeter roll.Thank you for sharing!

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2013
DELISH! decided to make my 1st ever apple crisp and chose this recipe. I used 8 granny smith apples(wasnt too sure on how many cups), next time will use 10. I read all the reviews, but still decided on using the water as the recipe states. To the water i added a big splash of vanilla. also added a pinch of nutmeg with the cinnamon. Finished product was amazing!

Chantal's New York Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2013
This is only about the 5th cheesecake ive made, but i wasnt really pleased with the final result. When i think new york cheesecake, i think more of that cream cheese flavour, and all i seem to pick up is alot of egg. I like the method of cooking with turning the oven off, but i only let mine sit for about 2 hours in there, because the edges were starting to turn a bit brown. I also got a crack in there, but definatly not blaming that on the recipe, i just covered mine with cherries.

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2013
This turned out FANTASIC! I poured the mixture directly on top of a chocolate mousse cake i made. Everyone loved it. This will be my go to recipe for ganache, frosting or to make truffles from. the simplicity of the ingrediants is wonderful. I didnt have dark rum, so i didnt use it. Also i couldnt find "heavy cream" at my grocery store so i bought whipping cream, which said was 35% milk fat, so that worked just fine. I used this to top a 9X13 cake so i increased the amounts by a little bit.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2013
These are Fabulous! I used a muffin pan that only makes 6 and they turned out just right. The only thing i did differently was add vanilla, just because. Also i didnt do the crumb topping(personal preference), but i did sprinkle just brown sugar on top before baking. cooking time was right on for me! Im excited to try this with different berries, and flavours! this is my go to from now on!

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2013
I needed a change from the recipe i always make, and decided to try these. They were delicious!! I doubled the recipe and i ended up making 21 smaller sized pancakes. also, i only added about 1.5 tbsp of vinegar, because i thought it would be too much otherwise. Also added vanilla to the egg and butter mixture. This is a keeper!

Pineapple Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
Because im not a pork chop fan, but do try to cook them every so often for my husband i asked him to rate it, and he's giving it 4 stars, because he likes that porky flavour which these didnt have. For me on the other hand they were okay because of the lack of pork flavour.I didnt really change the recipe at all, but i didnt have canned pineapple only the real thing at home, so i used fresh cut pineapple rings, and also blended some of the pineapple down to add to the marinade. also didnt have garlic powder, just cloves of garlic, so i used 2 in the marinade as well. I will most likely make this again if pork is on sale, and we havent had it for a while.

Oven-Fried Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2013
I made these the other night using boneless chops (just because they were on sale). I'm definatly not a pork fan but my husband is so i made them for him. I followed the recipe, but used the flour, before the egg, and used 2 eggs just because i had 6 chops. I cut down on the cooking time as well to about 8 mins a side,(because i had no bone). Ny husband LOVED them, and ate leftovers cold in a sandwich the next day. I ate one for dinner, thought it was pretty good for pork :) i drizzled mine with a lemon wedge before i ate it.

Reviewed: May 28, 2013
Made these today with Fresh Strawberries, and they came out great! i got 12 smaller ones out of it, and baked for 18-20 mins. I also added a splash of vanilla, and some cinnamon- but thats just because i pretty much add that to any muffin i make :) They tasted great right out of the oven. will be making these again!

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
I just made these this morning, and they were pretty good, different from other muffins ive made. I did get 16 muffins. i dont like to change a recipe when i try it for the first time, but i did replace all the oil with applesauce, because thats what ive always have done with muffins. also, i didnt have pecans, so i just add a few more chocolate chips. Oh and i added vanilla (i add that to all my baking too). The flavour was yummy, found it a bit on the chewy side,(i may have over stirred). But all in all i will be making these again. I would like to try adding some apple and cinnamon, instead of the chocolate next time.

Cherry Crunch

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
Delicious! I found a can of cherry pie filling in my pantry, and wanted to make something different with it, for a quick saturday dessert. I did add a bit more butter, maybe 1/4 cup, and mixed everything with my hands so the butter could soften. Also baked the bottom layer for about 15 mins first before adding the cherries and the topping. I added a tad of vanilla to my cherries(just because i seem to add vanilla to everything). With the topping part i added a handful of mini chocolate chip, not becuase i wanted to change the recipe but just because i LOVE chocolate. Baked everything for another 30 mins and it came out wonderful. This recipe if foresure a keeper. The crumble topping is yummy, would love to try this with other fruits.

One Minute Chocolate Icing

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
I made this for my chocoalte layer cake (with mousee between the layers, yum). I read alot of reviews before making this, and decided to use a wire whisk after taking it off the heat. It really does thicken fast as it cools..so after about 3 mins of just whisking it i poured it over my cake right in the middle, and let it run all around. The end result was a little different then i imagined, i guess i was thinking it would turn out like a ganache, but it just turned into some gooey sticky fudge like sauce, which did harden at least. It is super tasty and i probably WILL be making this again, maybe ontop of brownies next time!

Slow Cooker Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2012
Just Made this last night for my very first christmas dinner in our first house! I used homemade bread cubes. I made just as the recipe states, and turned out delicious! :) i did however stir it every 45 mins just so the ones on the edge didnt burn, and i added more stock as i felt it needed. One thing i did do was keep it on the dryer side, and once my turkey was cooked i added turkey drippings inside too :) I had 14 people over for dinner, and was worried half way through that it wouldnt be enough, so i quickly made some more and used the oven method, and it also turned out wonderful! Needless to say there are TONS of leftovers, and my first time makeing stuffing turned out GREAT!

Soft Sugar Cookies IV

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2012
These cookies were so simple to make! I did however replace the shortening with butter, only because i didnt have shortening on hand. I baked these with my daughter one sunday and she had so much fun dipping the tops in sugar. They came out tasty and looked festive as well! I will be making some more today probably 2 batches!

Chef John's Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2012
These pancakes were absolutly delicious! I hate making changes to recipes, but i had no ginger, or allspice. so i added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, and about 1/2 teaspoon of nutmeg, and about 1 tablespoon of vanilla(i had vanilla to everything). This recipe made 18 pancakes for me, and i didnt find any reason to add more milk. i let my batter sit for about 30 mins before cooking, and i found it developed a nice fluffiness about it! I will defintly be making these again. It sure is a nice way to use up leftovers of a can of pumpkin!

Cake Balls

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2011
So i dedicated 1 whole day pretty much to making these..and im very please with the way they turned out!. I made the cake and frosting mixture one night and let it cool in the fridge over night. In the morning i rolled them into balls, and placed them on a sheet in the freezer. They stayed there all day and in the evening i took them out to do the final touches. I used a toothpick to roll them in some bakers melted chocolate. I did white chocolate and rolled them in crushed candy canes, dark chocolate and rolled them in peanuts, and also bittersweet chocolate and rolled them in coconut. They look really pretty!and taste great too! if you have the time to make them, you'll be happy :)

Slow-Cooked Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2010
This was a GREAT Chili recipe!. i only gave it 4 stars, because i felt it needed alot more spices...so i just modified to my own taste. otherwise it is a great starter chili. the changes i made was i skipped the tomato sauce, and added 1 can of tomato paste instead. i also added 1 jalepeno, and more garlic. about 1 hour before serving i added some frozen corn. i cooked on high for about 3 hours!
