well, I am back sort of.  Surgery went well to remove the brain tumor.  Didn't get all of it, but they are going to keep an eye on it and will radiate it if it starts to grow.  I get my staples out on Monday the 28th! I am so excited.  I haven't been able to brush the hair I have normally for… MORE

I am a thirtysomething mother of 2 - 16 year old girl and 12 yr old boy. I have been married to my highschool sweetheart for 20 years. We just built our dream home. My favorite things to cook
Anything new! I love to try differnt cuisines. I love to grill and cook in a wok or slow cooker. Spicy is good - Mexican is awesome.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We love to have a party for New Years Eve and try to make homemade tamales with the group. The first year - didn't work out too well - we didn't get to eat the tamales until 3 am. But this past New Years - I pre-made some of both kinds and then had the filling to make more so my guests could be a part - smashing hit! And they were better than anything I have ever had in a restaurant!!!
My cooking triumphs
Tamales, I guess. And I have made gyros before which were fantastic.
My cooking tragedies
not too many, but the first time making tamales was quite interesting, 3 Am is a little late to be eating tamales, but they were still good and freeze quite well. lol

Awesome Ham Pasta Salad
I have made this salad for several get togethers, family reunions and weekends at the lake and everytime, it disappears with gusto. This is a great summer pasta salad - fantastic for premade dinner during the week. Thanks for the recipes!

Round Steak and Gravy II
My family loves this recipes. My picky teenage daughter gets totally excited when she comes home from school and smells this cooking in the crockpot. I however, use an cream of soup that I have on hand - 2 cans different kinds; any Lipton soup mix, and 1/4 can of water only. Everytime there is a slight different taste, but always good. I have used cream of onion, cerlery, mushroom, garlic mushroom, lipton beefy mushroom, onion - all turns out good.
