I am a 24 year old mother of two girls, ages 8 months & 2 & half. I live in an "ok"town in British Columbia called Fort St.John. I am a newfie from a great hometown called Glenwood, located in central Newfoundland. I have a huge supportive family who are aware of my love for cooking. I love to cook & try anything new. My greatest fans are my mother & father, who live with my children, Cory (my loveman) & myself. Cory is used to plain cooking & not too optimistic on trying new things. He eats what I cook but I am also suportive on understanding wheather he liked it or not, & if it's a keeper or a failure. My father loves all kinds of food, & my greatest supporter is my wonderful mother. Both of our girls eat whatever is put in front of them, which is a bonus. I guess I just siply love to cook because it fits my lifestyle & homelife.
My favorite things to cook
Anything with chicken, easy desserts that don 't need to be made the night-before, anything beefy or with pork...I have never tried cooking lamb or veal. Casseroles are my specialty & homemade desserts. My family LOVES my homemade mushroom caps & my stove-top rice pudding. I am willing to try cooking anything new!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Jiggs Dinner=a newfie tradition which is a whole meal made in one big pot. salt beef is the main ingredient; cured navel beef in a salt brine, usually bought in a vacuum pack or a "beef bucket". I will have to put the complete recipe on my recipe profile for viewing.
My cooking triumphs
I have accomplished an awesome stove-top rice pudding for my father. Cory loves my homemade hambergers & battered cod fish & chips with my homemade tarter sauce. My "Lazy beef stroganoff" we also love.
My cooking tragedies
Hahhaa!!! I suck at making a homemade pie crust. I accidently forgot about my beautiful mushroom caps in the oven one evening & they went to moosh & I found them floating in a pool of mushroom-water, soaked in cheese. I am not an expert on making homemade soups. I do plan to get better at the things I would like to!
