Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2011
I made this for our July 4 cookout and we all thought it was very good.I did add cinnamon and vanilla to the sauce and mixed half the sauce in with the apples. My Granny Smith apples were pretty big so I just used five.I did a whole crust with holes instead of the lattice crust and it turned out fine.

Spinach and Orzo Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2011
This made a really pretty salad.I used fresh basil and added sun dried tomatoes and a small can of sliced black olives.Next time I might cut back on the vinegar just a bit but it was really good and easy to make.

Golden Yam Brownies

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
My husband couldn't stay of these so I know he really liked them! Everyone thought it was carrot cake at first until I told them different.I tried to make them a little more healthy so I used just 1 stick of butter and subbed the rest with applesauce.I also added a little cinnamon and nutmeg for extra flavor.I used my cheese grater to shred the sweet potatoes but next time I may try using cooked mashed ones to save a little time.

Everyone loved these hamurgers! They really are the best we've ever made.I didn't have garlic but I added some chopped onion and cavender's seasoning to the meat. They turned out so juicy and they were just as good reheated the next day. This is the only recipe I'll use for burgers from now on.

Brisket with BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2011
This was delicious! I cooked my brisket in the crock pot on low for about 10 hours and it was so tender it just fell apart. I thought the BBQ sauce was the best ever! I just couldn't get over how good the sauce turned out and it was so easy to make.I will definately make this again soon and I'll be using this BBQ sauce recipe the next time I make chicken.

Blue Cornmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
We loved these pancakes! I found Arrowhead Mills blue cornmeal in my local health food store and I bought it just for this recipe.I've been on a pancake kick lately and I've been trying a different recipe each time. This is definately one of our favorites.I put blueberries on a few of the pancakes before flipping instead of pine nuts and they turned out delicious.I only used 1/4 tsp of salt after reading a few reviews they were too salty. I used wheat pastry flour instead of all purpose and they turned out perfect!

Cincinnati Chili I

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
I thought this was just ok.It was my first time trying cincinnati chili so I had nothing to compare it to.It reminded me of spaghetti sauce and I kept thinking it should be sweeter or something. My husband thought it was a little bland.I won't make it again but it was fun trying it.

Best Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2011
I served this with cheese enchiladas and I thought it was pretty good.I did add some chopped red pepper along with the onion.I also added a little cumin and chili powder.Mine was done after 20 minutes but it had soaked up all the liquid and was sticking a bit so I added about a half cup more broth.I think next time I'll half the recipe because it made way too much for us.

Neat Sloppy Joes

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
We thought these were good.Instead of celery I used red bell pepper.I only had 1 lb of hamburger so I cut the brown sugar and ketchup down to half.It was just a litttle too sweet for me but my husband liked these a lot.

Chocolate Eclair Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
I needed a quick dessert to make for the Super Bowl so I chose this.I thought it was really good and I'm usually not a fan of pudding desserts.Everyone that tried it said it was really good. The only thing I changed was I used honey graham crackers and I halved the recipe and put it in a smaller dish.I only had time to refrigerate it for an hour but I'm sure it gets better the longer it sits.

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
This was delicious!I've never tried buffalo wing sauce on anything so I had no idea what to expect but I loved it. I was afraid it would be too hot for me but it wasn't at all and I even put extra on my sandwich.I used the Franks buffalo sauce and I served the sandwiches with blue cheese coleslaw.I loved the coleslaw with this and all I did was whisk 1/2 cup mayo,1/2 cup buttermilk,1 TB apple cider vinegar,2 TB sugar and 1 oz crumbled blue cheese then add a bag of coleslaw mix.I served the chicken and slaw in deli buns and everyone loved it.I would not change a thing with this recipe.

This syrup is delicious! I love maple syrup on my pancakes and I wouldn't change a thing with this recipe. It's so simple to make and it tastes much better than the store bought kind.

Quick and Easy Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2010
I hate to leave a bad review but I didn't really like this crust.I thought it was very bland. My husband on the other hand thought it was pretty good.I guess I'm just spoiled to Jays Signature Crust recipe which I usually use.I just didn't have time to wait for the dough to rise so I thought I would give this one a try.I did like how easy it was to make but I'll have to stick with Jays Signature crust.
