About this Cook
I moved out on my own in September 2009, and started the adventure of cooking own my own. In September 2010 my long-term boyfriend and I moved into an apartment together, and cooking dinner is one thing we get to do everyday together. I lvoe cooking, it is my favorite part of the day, and which each meal I get better and better :)
My favorite things to cook
I love cooking different chicken dishes, and baking, I love to bake! I am also a HUGE fan of quinoa. I have it almost everyday.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, I am responsible for making the cranberry sauce (from scratch, obviously), and when we go to my grandmothers house, it is my job to stir the gravy :) Even now that I am older, these are still my jobs around that time of year.
My cooking triumphs
At this point in my life, every meal is a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
As of right now, my biggest failure in the kitchen was trying to make Sheppards Pie, but covering it when I put it in the oven and the mashed potatoes turned to liquid. We called it "Sheppards Stew"

Buffalo Wontons
I tried to make these a few weeks ago, but could not find wonton wrappers (I live in Northern Ontario), so I wrapped the insides with rice paper (I submitted a picture of it) and baked them for about 10 minutes, they were yummy! When I visit my parents in Toronto next, I will find wonton wrappers and try the recipe again!!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings
I love this recipe! M boyfriend and I are a young couple who moved out on our own less than a year ago, and this is an easy go-to recipe that we make on busy days. I only gave it a 4 star rating, however, because I find that the original recipe needs a bit of tweeking to be perfect. I add frozen mixed veggies to the pot about an hour before serving it, and instead of using water to cover the ingredients I use a reduced sodium chicken broth. Also, as some people may be happy to hear, the recipe tastes just as delicious if you use a low-fat version of the cream of chicken soup. I suggest Cambells low-fat cream of chicken soup.
