Lentils and Rice with Fried Onions (Mujadarrah)

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2012
I make something like this but... I put carrots etc in it. I use cumin/curry powder/turmeric/butter/salt as well. I also use Basmati rice. I also make a giant batch as I live in a house of males. LOL

Beezie's Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2012
I changed this a bit - omitted vinegar, jalapenos and chili powder. Added basil and two bay leaves. I used canned black beans as well and rinsed them carefully before using. Also rinsed the tomatoes thoroughly. I made it in a regular large pot as well and put a couple of pinches of crushed red pepper in it for a little bit of a kick. Served it with sourdough baguette. DELICIOUS!

The Best Vegetarian Chili in the World

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
Great. Changed it slightly...just used crushed red pepper powder instead of all the other peppers. Also made basmati rice for it, mixed it with the rice. Shredded cheddar on top. 18 month old toddler loved it!

Scones

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
Excellent! Works at high altitude (above 5,000 feet) too. I had to add another cup of flour as the dough was far too wet and patted the dough into a round shape on a plate instead of using a rolling pin. Because I'm at 5,000+ feet, I had the oven at 400F for roughly 10 minutes, then baked until they were done at 375F, to prevent them burning. Worked great!

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
Awesome and easy - however, 400F was way too hot IMO. The butter I used to grease the baking sheets started to smoke and if I had left the buns in the time recommended, we'd have 16 burnt hockey pucks instead of delicious fresh buns...

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
This was my first attempt at making strudel. Easy cheesy. I did not alter the recipe, worked great. Delicious and smelled great while baking.
