Bean with Bacon

This was a great recipe. I substituted a ham & turkey stock that I made after Thanksgiving for the bouillon and water, and used 3 cans of great northern beans instead of the dried beans. We like a strong bacon flavor in our B-w-B soup, so I used the whole package and we found it was perfect, however, using this much bacon you might need to reduce or even omit the salt if you're a light-salt family like we are. Give it a taste and salt accordingly. To help save a step, I cut the bacon before cooking and cooked it in the soup pot, draining off fat as it cooked to help it get tot a nice crispiness. Then I just added onions, celery, and carrots to the crispy bacon and remaining grease and went from there.

Cheese Fondue

This was a great recipe... for those having clumping problems, I would suggest putting this together in a pot on the oven first. Bring the wine to a simmer and then gradually add the cheese and flour while whisking. Once everything is melted and smooth, add it to your fondue pot to keep it warm and creamy. We had it with french bread, apples, and pears and it was delicious!

Milk Chocolate Popcorn

I was missing a bunch of ingredients so I made this without any nuts, dark syrup instead of light, and semisweet chips. I added about 2T of brown sugar to make up for the sweetness lost with the chocolate and syrup. We have a local chocolatier that makes wonderful chocolate popcorn and I expected it to be like that, but baking it in the oven made the coating crispy and glossy like caramel corn. Mine wasn't soft at all - I think the key is to bake it the full time and stir every 5 - 10 minutes. This was wonderful and a huge hit for movie night. I'll make again to share with friends! I agree with others - make sure you pick out the seeds before you pour the chocolate on. I lined a cookie sheet with aluminum foil and used a baking spray, and nothing stuck at all.

Shoyu Chicken

I cut the recipe in half, and used dried ginger since I didn't have any fresh. I used the optional spices except for red pepper flakes, which I was out of. The recipe turned out fabulous and even my picky teen aged daughter asked for seconds! Like some others, I boiled the mairnade and reduced a little to make a tasty sauce. The only change I think I'll make next time is to cut the black pepper down a little. I thought the black pepper was a little heavy handed.
