About this Cook
I learned to bake with my mom as a little kid too energetic to sit & leave her alone while she baked. As I grew older, I had genuinely loved to bake and spend time with my mom. When the end of my senior year (of HS) came about, I suddenly realized I would have to know how to cook to survive college (never realized how true that'd be...). My dad and grandmother began to teach me that summer (I was the "sous" chef)and every summer after that (I have become one of the "iron" chefs of my family now!). This year I've studied abroad in Mexico & Spain with families, so I even have some of their recipes! :D
My favorite things to cook
I have to say baking is still by far my favorite thing to do. I've fallen into the cupcake trend. They're fun and a great way to watch your portions!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Wednesday Nights with Gram and Christmas Cookies with Mom. Wednesdays always seemed to be my day off of work, so my grandma comes over and we make something adventurous for dinner. My mom bakes cookies starting in early November and makes 2-3 batches of about 16-18 types of cookies to send to our friends and family out of state. I always loved baking and decorating the cookies with my mom.
My cooking triumphs
For New Year's, my parents went out with friends, my bf at the time, my brother, & I stayed at the house to fend for ourselves. My bf wanted "Mac & Cheese" (from the box, which hasn't been in our house since I was 10--I'm 23 now), so I made real Mac & Cheese with a roux and all! Not only did I not fail, but my Uncle (a semi-professional chef himself) at *all* the leftovers! Then more recently, I made meatballs for a bachelorette party and my FULL ITALIAN mother said they were the best she's ever eaten. #win

Pineapple Lemonade Spritzers
It was good, but I wished that this had more of a lemony taste to it. I added an extra lemon, but may cut down to less pineapple juice next time.
