About this Cook
Gosh, I can be found outdoors in most any weather; walking, biking, gardening, meeting friends at the dog park! But cooking and food is my passion. My husband is a vegetarian, I was, but have a weakness for chicken. Hey, I've got to get back to sharing some of those healthy recipes with you.....:D Welcome your posts, comments!
My favorite things to cook
Meatless, healthy recipes, both old and new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My familys' ancestry is Polish and Lithuanian, so MEAT and ALOT of it filled our plates. It's the recipes for cakes, breads, desserts and cookies that I continue to make, more than any meat dish.
My cooking triumphs
Making my first perfect piecrust at age 7.
My cooking tragedies
Chopping one garlic BULB for a spaghetti sauce instead of a CLOVE - yikes!

Creamy Blueberry Pie
It was DELICIOUS! Very pretty once cut, too. Like a dense blueberry muffin with the strusel on top.

Kolacky
This is the most delicious recipe for Kolacky I've ever made. For those who found the dough 'difficult' to work with, I offer a suggestion: It is helpful to form about a generous 'cup' of dough into a 'patty' before refrigerating it. I made three 'fat' patties out of this recipe, then wrapped them in plastic wrap before refrigerating. Place them on the counter to soften A BIT before rolling them out. This makes them easy to roll out....hope this helps:D

Indian Sweet Potato and Lentil Soup
Rich in flavor - a winner! I doubled it (including the spices) the first time I made it. Added a pinch of cinnamon too. Tasted remarkably close to the soup enjoyed in an ethnic restaurant.
