About this Cook
Just a wife and mother raising three kids and a large German Shepherd on the old family homestead.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and decorate cakes! My great-aunts taught me what they had learned from the cake decorating classes that they had taken years before. I've done a few cakes for pay, but do not enjoy the stress. I much prefer just doing it for the people I love.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Fudge at Christmas. Mom always made fudge for everyone at Christmas! My sister and I have started the tradition of making rock candy every year for Christmas gifts now. It's a big hit, and a lot of fun to make together! I used to help Mom freeze strawberries and make jam, and now I do it every summer by myself.
My cooking triumphs
I've made some fantastic cakes and candy, both the appearance and the taste were great! I'm known for my yeast rolls and breads, and frequently get asked to bring a batch to family gatherings.
My cooking tragedies
Christmas Day a number of years ago, the yeast rolls I made came out TERRIBLE. I think that they weighed about a pound a piece! It was the only batch of rolls that I've made that was a total flop! I'm not good with my slow cooker either. I don't think that ANYTHING I've made in it has come out edible. Now it's used exclusively for dyeing yarn.

Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits
We make these every Christmas for our German Shepherd. It doesn't have any dairy or sugar in it, so it's healthier for her. They come out good, but I usually let them set out on wire racks for a day or so to dry out really well. She enjoys them, and the kids like helping me make them!

Creamy Potato Pork Chop Bake
Very easy recipe. Quick to assemble, and then you can just pop it in the oven and walk away! My husband and brother-in-law both raved over how good it was the first time I made it, and my husband requests it frequently!
