Perfect Chocolate Cake

What an incredible cake! I can't rave enough about this one! I did not have ANY trouble with it while frosting it- I used a fluffy chocolate buttercream and it went on so smoothly! I filled my cake with banana pudding and slices of banana! this one is surely a repeat signature cake! Congrats!

GREAt pastry! We never had Cream cheese in Poland- only farmers cheese- they were NEVER used in cookies! this is a true Kolaczky pastry! i too, dusted and rolled out in powdered sugar and it helped to roll the dough in ONE direction. I actually warm up some preserves- mostly apricot or plum butter (powidla) and stir in a touch of cornstarch so that my preserves dont get too runny. SMACZNEGO!

Can't be an old recipe, we did't use Cream Cheese in Poland. We use a yeast-based dough because these aren't cookies, they are pastries. Even here in chicago, all the polish bakeries use yeast-based pastries. Ive tried the cream cheese based recipes and they just dont make the grade. While this is a nice cookie, it cant duplicate the real Kolaczki's.

Very good easy cheater recipe but it's not true to the historical cookie. We didn't have cream cheese growing up in Poland, we use a yeast based dough. The traditional filling is plum butter or Powidla, we only used preserves or fresh fruits cooked down to jellied consistency.. The original cookie is much much harder to make and tastes incredible!

FABULOUS recipe... Must be careful when rolling out the dough. I placed a pastry bag over my roller and rolled on ONE direction so the dough wouldn't fall apart.. Not overly sweet and a perfect cultural treat for the Holidays..
