I am married, I have two beautiful daughters. I am currently back in school to become a teacher. I love reading, writing, music, dancing, photography, crocheting and food (of course). I make really good bread, but I can't cut it evenly.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make "family" meals, and love trying new spices. I tend to go for "simple" meals: soups, sandwiches, pasta dishes, but like to try more advanced things occasionally.
I just recently found a Japanese cookbook at Goodwill. I can't wait for a chance to try some of it out.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My sister and I make care packages for our aunts, uncles, and grandparents for Christmas. She handles the cookies, and I make the breads. We usually take naps during the process.
My cooking triumphs
I am famous in my family for my bread making, even though it's mostly bread maker bread. I like taking the basic recipes and mixing them up with new things.
I also made really good tortellini- chicken "salad."
My cooking tragedies
When I first started cooking, I set my kitchen on fire almost every night. I once tried to make asparagus with garlic butter. I used canned asparagus. It was disgusting.
I'm currently learning to make cakes from scratch. I made the first one for my friends birthday, frosting and all. I didn't realize that butter frosting has to be put on a completely cooled cake or it melts everywhere. It was really ugly (but it was tasty).
