Bill's Sausage Gravy

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2011
I'm not big on the maple sausage, but any flavor sausage will work well. Tip: After browning sausage, sprinkle flour directly over sausage and mix until the flour is no longer visible. Then add milk. No need to add butter. This makes it quick, easy, and less fat with same flavor and texture.

Pillow-Soft Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
These were amazing!! They came out quite a bit bigger than expected, so you could easily make double the amount stated and have smaller, yet good sized, rolls to serve a crowd. I melted some butter and mixed in some minced cloves of garlic and spread it on top as soon as it came out of the oven. Marvelous!

Toscana Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2011
I gave it a 4 star as written but with these adjustments it is definitely a 5 star. The one thing that is missing from this recipe is bacon. Instead of using vegetable oil to cook the onions in, use 2 strips of bacon cut up in small pieces. I used 2 large cloves of garlic and 3 potatoes. I removed the sausage from its casing, broke it up and browned in skillet. I then drained it and added 1/2 cup flour to the sausage and mixed it up until the flour is invisible. I used chicken broth instead of the base and water and I added 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper. Amazing!!

Easy OREO Truffles

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
Really delicious!!! I also made some with Nutter Butter cookies instead of Oreo's and my family went crazy over them. And then I also made some with mint Oreo's. I think they add more cream filling to the Mint Oreo's so I added some Girl Scout mint cookies to the mixture because they were too mushy without them and they were wonderful!!! I also added about a half cup of the mint chocolate chips to the baking chocolate for the mint truffles - fantastic! A big family hit and a new yearly tradition to make. Thank you!!!

Spaghetti Sauce II

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
I have a recipe for spaghetti sauce that has been in my Italian family for years. It's really delicious, but I wanted to try something different and something that wouldn't take all day as the family recipe does. This was fantastic and quick!!! I didn't change a thing, which is really unusual for me, and it was perfect! I served it over my Chicken Parmesan (so I added no meat to the sauce) for a dinner party over the holidays and it was a big hit! Thank you!!!

Turkey Pot Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2010
This was really good. I did, however, make some changes. Instead of using chicken bouillon and water I used chicken stock. I also added a can of cream of chicken soup, 1/4 cup of dry white wine, and 1 tsp of Italian seasoning. Also, I used heavy cream instead of milk. Really delicious! My family absolutely loved it!!

Cream Of Asparagus Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
This was really good, but not quite spicy enough for my family. I added 3 cloves of garlic, 1/2 tsp. salt, and 1 1/2 tsp. of Creole seasoning. I also used heavy cream instead of milk. Perfect! Will definitely make again. In addition - if you purchase a hand blender, you can skip the steps of placing it all in a blender. Just put the hand blender in the pot and blend away. Easy, less mess, and it comes out perfect!
