About this Cook
I am wife, and friend, to my soulmate since 1976, Abuelita to four grandkids, and Mom to the best 3 kids in this world or the next!
My favorite things to cook
I am best with most anything in the Mexican quisine as my spouse is Mexican- go figure;) Would like to expand my repetoire in the foreseeable future.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Frijoles, arroz, sopa, quacamole, tortillas, migas, salsas, FAJITAS!!! When we do it up, we do it with gusto!!! And we love to do this in the summer, when all of the extended families can enjoy it with us. This summer we will plant our first veggie garden to use in our homemade salsas, sopas, etc.!!!
My cooking triumphs
I have recently begun baking bread- lots of it. THAT has been a triumph. Now I am canning homegrown vegetables, and am loving every minute.
My cooking tragedies
Any time I try to make something by taste!!! My husband is the chef in this house and I love to be his sous!!! He keeps telling me to cook by the seat of my pants. I can't even SEE the seat of my pants, much less cook by them!!!

Venison Meat Loaf
OMG! The best meatloaf I have ever made!!! My husband agrees! No grease on the bottom of the pan, and the flavor was wonderful!! I used old fashioned oats for the bread crumbs, 1 1/2 tsp. of a spice mixture I bought on Amazon called Spike instead of S&P, and added 2 Tbs. catsup to the topping (which I won't do the next time. I feel it would have been fine as is written). Can't wait to make this again SOON! Thank you so much for this basic recipe. Served it with mashed cauliflower and it was a meal to remember!

Steve's Famous Garlic Home Fries
This is a great recipe and just what I was looking for. I had a small, very ripe tomato from the garden that I diced up and put in as well as 2 leftover pieces of bacon. What a treat!!! Thanks for the base.
