My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas dinner. Starting with my best friends Christmas Crepes, fresh fruit and a mimosa. The Prime rib, Yorkshire pudding,blue mashed potatoes and anything green for a veggie. Of course dessert has to be Plum pudding with Brandy sauce. Port & cheese later.But everyone in the kitchen is the Best...
My cooking triumphs
Having my husbands boss and his wife over for dinner when the children were babies and doing the first Crown roast and serving Chestnut dressing and creamed peas. Did a Raspberry Charlotte and little did I know our guests were so impressed the gave me my start in my catering business. Asked me to do the Board of Directors holiday dinner.
My cooking tragedies
A new bride and again my husband invited his boss for dinner on short notice. I made my favorite Shepards Pie because I knew it would not fail me. Well, we didn't have a whole lot and the meat was not very lean. Put it all together baked it and when I took it out of the oven the grease had risen to the top and was floating on top of the mashed potatoes. Needless to say it was a disaster. Crying my husband told me to take the turkey baster and suck the grease off the top and then take a paper towel and pat it as dry as I could. Did that made swirles on the potatoes put it under the broiler and no one new what had happened accept my wonderful husband and me.
