I love trying new things and learning how to improve my cooking skills. I perfected the art of improvisation by being forced to work with limited ingredients when I was in college. I love concocting meals out of random ingredients.
I LOVE CHEESE, good olive oil, crusty bread thats chewy on the inside, microbrew, wine and chocolate.
My favorite things to cook
Anything on the grill
My favorite family cooking traditions
Helping my mom make california souffle on christmas eve. Its an egg casserole of my grandmas that has to be made 24 hours in advance. It has whole milk, lots of eggs, stale cubed bread, fat chunks of ham thats fried in butter and brown sugar, sauteed mushrooms, cheddar cheese, and a few other ingredients to give it its own special taste. Its the best ! Last year my sister and I waited until the last minute to run to the store- to find out all grocery stores were closed. So we ended up driving all over town to find ingredients- we ended up getting 2 lbs of fresh mushrooms from a Chinese buffet that was open.
My cooking triumphs
Being resourceful and inventive in the kitchen
My cooking tragedies
I've learned you usually cannot improvise or cut corners with baking
