Apple Turnovers

So easy and delicious. I did make some alterations. I didn't soak the apples in the lemon water but instead used lemon juice and zest. I also added some salt and vanilla to the apples. I used three large red delicious and I still had leftovers. Remember to let the filling cool or it will melt the pastry. I also used a puff pastry recipe from this site rather than store bought. Everyone raved! Now I have tons of requests to make this.

Portuguese Custard Tarts - Pasteis de Nata

Delicious! But the sugar definitely has be cut down in half. A little too sweet but that's a personal preference. So easy to make and cheap as well. I am addicted to these and the bakery sells then for about $1 for one, and I can never eat just one, so definitely easier on my wallet when I make it at home.

Puff Pastry

This must be the easiest and most delicious puff pastry recipe ever. My family raved non stop about it. I used it to make apple turnovers and custard tarts. Next I will make chicken pot pie. Definitely my new go to crust recipe. It is very difficult to screw up. A tip I have is I put everything in a food processor, then dumped it on saran wrap and wrap it up tightly and refrigerate it.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Love this recipe. No store bought or restaurant pot pie could beat this. It is so easy to make and takes no time at all. I didn't use chicken broth, I took the water that was used to boil chicken and veggies because it felt like such a waste to throw that good water away. I also skipped celery and celery seeds because I had none and I am not a fan of the taste. Pie crusts are good for this recipe, but I had leftover puff pastry dough so I used that instead, it turned out even better. Everyone loved this recipe, it is definitely a keeper!

Heavenly Chocolate Mousse

Love love love this!!! I had some leftover whipping cream and I didn't know what to do with it so I made this. I did add a pinch of salt to the melted chocolate. When I took it off the stove to cool, I stirred in 1 tsp of vanilla. Also, I only used 1 cup of whipping cream because that was all I had left and it turned out great. So yummy with berries but oh so fattening.

Jamie's Cranberry Spinach Salad

Delish! Everyone in my family loved it. I didn't do the butter and almond things, I just toasted it slowly in the oven. I also didn't have white wine vinegar so I used balsamaic vinegar. I did have to add some salt to the dressing though it was too bland for my taste and I cut down on oil and sugar. Thanks for a great recipe.

Tiramisu II

This is the tiramisu recipe! I've tried another one on here because it had more reviews but this one has a better star rating. I had nothing leftover, this recipe was perfect. I did double the coffee and I used every last drop. I had nothing left over, even ladyfingers were all used up. This tiramisu is even better than the one I usually buy from a fancy bakery. It's cheaper to make this than buy the cake in store. Love it!

Guacamole

This was my first time eating and making guacamole. I use to see it on t.v. all the time and thought it was gross, but everyone was always eating and raving about it so I set out to find the perfect recipe and I found it. So delicious, I make for parties all the time now and everyone fights for some. I just omitted the oil as said by some reviewers. Thanks for a great recipe!

Marshmallow Fondant

My first time making fondant so I was quite nervous, I have never even eaten fondant before. It was a big success. My creations looked store bought. I though I messed it up because it was so sticky,soft and floppy, but nothing a little icing sugar couldn't solve. My go to fondant recipe from now on, thanks!

Red Velvet Cake I

This is the first cake I have ever made and it turned out beautifully. It was also my first time eating read velvet cake. I made it according to suggestions; I used oil, I increased cocoa powder, I had no buttermilk, made sour milk (1 cup of milk+1 tbls vinegar, I did not increase the sugar because with the frosting I think it is sweet enough. Remember to completely fold in the baking soda and vinegar combination, people will be disgusted to take a big bit out of baking soda (very bitter). I stuck to the frosting in this recipe because my family hates cream cheese frosting. I had no problem with it at all, I did use powdered sugar, one suggestion; pour the milk into the flour and whisk at the same time, this prevents it from clumping. I made this for my grandma's birthday with marshmallow fondant (also my first time) on top and I have never had so many praises. FYI, this case stores in the fridge very well, I made it the day before, frosted it and put it in the fridge overnight. I let it get to room temp. before we served it. I then put the leftover in the fridge and ate some later on, this cake tastes better chilled. I am going to make another one for another birthday, can't wait!
