I first began cooking as a young girl, helping out my mom who worked full-time. I learned from trial and error over the years, but somehow acquired the knack for putting together things that came out tasting really good. I've been married for 29 years, have 2 grown sons, and 3 grandsons!
My favorite things to cook
Love to cook Italian food, Mexican, casseroles, comfort foods, and soups. Also love salads, grilling, roasting...everything!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I always look forward to making my grandma's recipe for stewed chicken and polenta. It takes me back to my childhood in Grandma's kitchen. It's the all-time favorite dish for a cold winter evening in my house.
My cooking triumphs
I came up with a really great clam chowder recipe on my own that many people have asked for. Also, I have had many successes over the years with recipes I've found in cookbooks and online. I'm sure there are others that I just can't think of!
My cooking tragedies
Aaahhh!!! Had a few of those too! I remember trying to make some German red cabbage after a trip to Europe. I didn't follow any particular recipe and it turned out too sweet! Yikes! Also, I've over cooked and undercooked things that I whipped up. Timing is everything!
