Chef John's Perfect Prime Rib

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2014
The method of cooking is by far the best for a perfectly done roast. I have been making this a number of years for Christmas dinner and always get complimented on finished - rare on the inside and done on the outside - roast. The herbes de provence adds a wonderful flavor.

Delilah's Frosted Cut-Out Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2014
Very easy, basic, yummie cookie. Easy to roll out after chilling well and as recommended using a lightly floured surface and rolling pin. The frosting adds just enough extra sweetness and are fun for kids to decorate. A keeper in this family.

Applesauce Energy Bars

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2014
I used blueberry applesauce and it gave it a wonderful flavor. I also used old fashioned oat and added a touch of maple syrup. Next time I am going to add some chopped nuts. Another recipe I can play with. The amount of cinnamon sounded like to little so I added about a tablespoon and a dash of nutmeg.

Beef Au Jus

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2013
A true au jus does not have flour in it. But that being said this is wonderful for dipping sandwiches. Mad Chef John's Prime Rib and having French dip sandwiches for lunch today. I did add a bit of herbs du provence I had made for the roast. Yummie!!!!!!!

Louisville Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2013
Great alternative for a nice salad. I used apples and dried cranberries as I had no mandarin oranges or raisins in the house. Served it with cinnamon rubbed chicken and some sauted zucchini. Made for a wonderful light summer meal.

Chicken Breasts with Olives

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
I made this using fresh tarragon and it was delish. An interesting combination with the green olives but well worth. I would serve this for guests. A simple easy meal that comes together in no time at all.

Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2013
My husband and I loved this recipe. I admit I used a tenderloin roast and cut it thinly. My husband usually does not like a roast but told me I could make this again. Sent a sandwich with the beef for his lunch and he gobbled the whole thing. After a couple of days there was nothing to throw out. A keeper recipe.

Easter Spicy Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
I made this recipe evening for Easter. My guinea pig (husband) was made to try them. The recipe is a keeper. Can't wait for the rest of the family to try them. By the way I do not eat them. I don't eat a lot of the things I cook. I just love to cook to please. Never make it my job though. I will stick to antique furniture restoration.

Chicken and Asparagus Fettuccine

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2013
This was absolutely wonderful. I did add a bit of flour to the butter and used what was left of the heavy cream and 1/2 & 1/2 to make the sauce. I also added a sleeve of Trader Joe's chicken broth concentrate. The chicken was leftover from a whole one I cooked on the Webber charcoal grill with Kingsford Hickory charcoal. Just to good. The asparagus was fairly thick stalked so I did put it in with the pasta and it was fine. Not mushy at all. Thinner stalks I would broil or saute in a bit of OOV and garlic. I will be making this again. I also used penne tri-color pasta. YUMMIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Berdean's Cube Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 6, 2013
My husband and I love this recipe. Making it tonight with the addition of onion, sliced mushrooms and a few garlic cloves cut up. Easy and economical. A great way to use an inexpensive cut of meat. I also use broth instead of cubes to cut down on the salt. I feel if you want more salt add it on your plate.

Fried Rice Restaurant Style

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2013
This is so easy and tastes great. As others have stated cook the rice and put it in the fridge before using it. The first time I made it it came out a bit mushy. Second time I put it outside to cool off (it was about 5 degrees out) and it was wonderful. Making it again tonight to go with a chicken stir-fry.

Baked Omelet Roll

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2013
I have made this a number of times. Use parchment paper that is buttered to spread the eggs mixture onto. Today it had fresh mushrooms, ham, peppers and onion that was sauted for a bit. Grated some really good Pineland Farm cheddar. Leftovers for my husbands lunch tomorrow.

Make Ahead French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2013
I have made this a number of times. The first time I followed the recipe and it tasted great. Since I make a few variations every time. LOL. Sometimes I'll throw some blueberries on top before baking or add a bit of grated nutmeg to the egg mixture or a bit of cinnamon sprinkled in with the brown sugar and butter. A very versatile recipe and a keeper in this household. Tomorrow I am going to slice an apple to put on top. YUMMIE!!!!!!!!!

Sour Cream Banana Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2012
Just made this. Perfect for a snowy winter day. Had some frozen bananas I wanted to use up. So moist and yummie with a bit of peanut butter spread on a warm slice. Next time I will add some cinnamon to the batter for a bit of extra zing. Definitely will be making this again.

Asian Turkey Burgers

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2012
These are very tasty. I usually double the recipe and freeze them in individual patties. One thing I do is mix it and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours before making patties. The flavors blend nicely and I find it easier to handle

I love this recipe. Making it again tonight. Did not have scallions so I used some leeks. Still yummie. This will continue to be a favorite.

Pork Chops to Live For

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2012
My Mum made this when I was a kid. She used a skillet with a cover. I always add fresh mushroom to add to what is in the soup and use 1/2 & 1/2 instead of milk. Comfort food served with mashed potatoes.

Pumpkin Roll II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
I have made this twice and it is always a hit. Just follow the recipe. Be careful about the timing on the cake. Also they do say a linen towel. I used linen the first time and a cotton waffle weave the next time. Linen works better. It was still a wonderful dessert. Highly recommend it.

Savory Vegetable Beef Stew

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2011
This is a fantastic stew. The second time I used crushed garlic and instant potatoes to thicken instead of the flour. I also had some mushrooms and green beans that needed to be used. Wonderful on a cold day with fresh bread. I used the white batter bread which is also yummie.
