Vietnamese Spring Rolls With Dipping Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2012
I served this to friends and we all loved it. So much that the last one got eaten at 8am for breakfast as we were going away and couldnt stand the thought of wasting it! I subbed oyster sauce for fish sauce, and scallops for shrimp, that's what I had on hand. YUM. Also made it again with matchstick carrots and diced red pepper instead of the shrimp, very good. Very versatile recipe.

Absolute Mexican Cornbread

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2012
Ok, this was sooo good. I took the advice of other reviewers and cut the butter in half, also didn't have the can of chillies so used a half a red bell pepper, diced, and some diced green onion. It turned out absolutely delicious, I served it at a party with chilli, many people went back just for the bread, and it went like wildfire. Great recipe.

Spicy Roasted Red Pepper and Feta Hummus

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2011
YUM!!! Didn't have roasted red peppers in a jar so grilled a large red pepper and used that, I think the consequence was that it is a bit soupy,,, but very delicious. Thank you! I have to say, it really really bugs me when people change a recipe then rate it less than 5 stars.....

Excellent....and regarding the most helpful critical review...maybe someone who takes their cream cheese icing from a can isn't the best source of helpful recipe tips!!

This was okay. Very moist but not as flavourful as the recipe I've used for years.

Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
OK. this was not what I wanted, I wanted a smooth tomato soup so even after pureeing, didn't give me what I wanted, but the flavour....yum, yum! Still a delicious soup, on day two I added a half cup of wild rice blend with barley and stuff and it was even better! I would definately make this again.

Kokub's Mango Chutney from Pakistan

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
Not sure what happened here but I ended up with a runny, syrupy, unappetizing mess that I haven't even worked up the gumption to taste! It was very thin and wasn't thickening at all so cooked for 1.5 hours, still didn't reduce....I followed the recipe to the letter. Disappointing because it was quite a challenge getting all the spices necessary as I live in a very remote place. :(........ EDIT: I just drained off alot of the liquid and processed the pulp through the food processor to break down the strips.....it is very very good and tasty. Definately will make again, but maybe cut down the sugar so I don't end up with so much syrup.

Mint Chutney

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
This is absolutely delicious. Tamarind isn't something you can get anywhere near where I live so I used a tbsp of (store-bought) tamarind chutney. This got raves at the party I took it to. I served it with samosas made with phyllo. YUM YUM

Whoopie Pies IV

Reviewed: Oct. 5, 2010
These tasted very good but like another reviewer, the cookies turned out lumpy. The batter was nice and smooth and mixed properly when it went on the sheet, they just didn't smooth out well. Good taste, though.

Whoopie Pies I

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2010
These are good, very sweet, and very good. The only thing I will do differently is double the cocoa as I didn't find them chocolatey enough...otherwise, very classic whoopie pie and no marshmallow fluff!! which is good.

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
oh my. loved this. used one pan (cooked onion, garlic, added chicken and tandoori....when cooked added rest.....yum yum yum. Will definately leave out the cayenne next time, used only half and still too hot for my liking. Also no tomato sauce on hand so used 1 can of Rotel diced tomatoes with jalepenos instead (which likely added to the heat). This will be a staple in our house.
