Rich and Creamy Beef Stroganoff

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
I was expecting a lot more from this recipe based on all the incredible reviews, but was pretty disappointed. I must have just done something wrong because mine didn't turn out great. I served it on top of egg noodles. Next time I will try beef tenderloin like a previous poster suggested.

Cheesy Potato and Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2010
Wowza. Really good. I don't even want to admit the amount of bowls I had for dinner. I omitted the celery, added a can and a half of cream corn, and split the milk with some heavy cream. Really delicious, hearty chowder. I'd never made a chowder before and was really nervous about the gravy part but it was fantastic. I also used 2% plain velveeta and added rotisserie chicken, as another reviewer recommended. Needed a little salt and pepper in the end. Would recommend and will make again.

Ham and Cheese Quiche

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2010
Great recipe. Used prepared pie crust, cooked for 400 for 10 min. before filling and then cooked according to recipe. Used 4 slices of swiss cheese and am really glad I did, next time I might use even more. Instead of mushrooms and spinach I used green chilies and onions. I also added an extra egg. Turned out great!

Really liked this recipe. I added mandarin oranges and didn't have almonds but other than that followed the recipe exactly. Very good.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2010
Yummo. I used butter instead of shortening/butter, just because I don't have any shortening. I also added pecans instead of raisins. I was a little scared about using clove, so I used allspice and it wasn't too spicy at all. As other reviewers have said, with butter only they are a bit crumbly. Maybe next time I'll add a little more flour. Thanks for the recipe!

Ground Beef Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2010
Turned out great! I used ground turkey and added green chilies. My husband thought it was a little rich but I loved it. I had the leftovers the next day. Worth a try.

Dave's Low Country Boil

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
My husband made this and we are crazy about it! We even made it for a big family dinner this summer. We serve with butter in a side dish and coctail sauce. We use old bay seasoning and add a little crawfish seasoning and it feels like we're at the beach everytime we eat it. Worth a try!

Slow Cooker Enchiladas

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2010
Great recipe! After reading all the reviews, I did change a couple of things. I used a lb of ground turkey and added a half a lb of ground beef, with a small can of chopped green chilies. I also added a can of tri-beans (black, pinto, kidney) and instead of salsa a can of rotel. I also used flour tortillas per some other reviews and it turned out fantastic!! I thought it was going to be a bit soupy at first but the texture was perfect for us. We'll see how it is tomorrow. I might try it in the oven next time in a pyrex dish for ease of cutting and for presentation.

PBM Sandwich

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2010
Great sandwich! I forgot to microwave it but it was still delish. I didn't measure but I thought the marshmellow creme would be too much if I added too much, but it definitely doesn't over power it, in fact I added more marshmellow creme. Don't be shy, next time I certainly won't.

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
Made for a great dinner. I did accidentally forget to add the beer. Also added a bunch of seasonings, garlic salt, onions, pepper, soy sauce, per the other reviews. It turned out great! I also used a chuck roast because that's what they had on sale. Toasted some hoagie rolls and added the onions from the crock pot and melted provolone cheese under the broiler. Dipped in the au jus, of course! :-) I will definitely be making this again.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2010
Awesome. I made these based on the reviews and I'm extremely pleased. I only had two bananas and I added a cup of fresh blueberries, cause I had them on hand. I also used, half splenda/sugar mix. They turned out amazing. My husband gave them a 9.75 out of 10. You won't be sorry you tried this recipe.

Texas Glazed Pecans

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2010
Just made my first batch and they are very good. My only issue is there might be too much salt. I can't even believe I'm saying that because I'm a salt lover. Another recipe I was looking at only calls for 1/4 tsp of salt and I think I'll follow that next time. But these definitely won't be thrown out! They're great. It does take some babysitting of the oven, but it's worth it. I might play around a little bit with some more cinnamon, less salt, more brown sugar and see what I get. All in all a great recipe and worth a try!

Navajo Fry Bread II

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Followed the others advice and reduced the salt to 2 tsps. I think if I ever tried this again I would roll it out much thinner. They just tasted like big fried balls to me. We put chicken and beans and cheese on top, like the indian tacos you get at the fair, but I ended up just eating the chicken off mine since the bread didn't turn out so great.

Asparagus Chicken Crepes

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
My mom makes a version of these and I thought I would try to make these myself. This recipe looked similar so I thought I would try it. They weren't nearly as good as the ones my mom makes, I'll be following her recipe next time. My husband said he enjoyed it but he only ate one crepe.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2010
I'm giving this 3 stars because I didn't like it at all but my husband did. I did a couple of things differently, I used a garlic and herb mayo and added salt and pepper and old bay before broiling, like a previous poster had suggested. I also used 1/4 c of parmesan and 1/4 c of cheddar because that's what I had at home. I won't be making this again.

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
I followed the recipe to a T, only I subbed ff mayo and ff cream cheese, and guess that might have been my problem. Next time I'll double the cheese, as someone else suggested and use sour cream instead of mayo. I definitely won't be using ff. I love spinach and artichoke dip enough to try it again.

Sloppy Joes II

SO good!! I add more brown sugar, but I like things a bit sweeter. I also didn't have any green pepper and it was still delish without it. I could have this once a week.

Clone of a Cinnabon

Reviewed: May 8, 2010
I wanted this to come out 5 stars so bad I even tried twice! Ok, here's what happened, I don't have a bread machine, so I followed the other suggestions and made it myself, I also allowed it to sit overnight in the fridge and then put them in a cold oven at 350*, here's where I think I went wrong. After 30 min, they didn't look brown and the inside looked too gooey so I turned off the over and allowed them to sit in there for several more minutes. This was my mistake because both times this happened and both times they were too done. I guess I might try again because this is such a highly rated recipe I want to experience the ooey gooey goodness that everyone claims comes from this recipe but it migh just be one of those things you have to perfect. Also flipping the cinnamon rolls over right out of the oven was probably one of the saving graces because it does coat the rolls agains with all the good stuff. If I try again I will either follow the instructions for baking exactly or take them out when they look too gooey and see what happens then. My advice is read the other reviews and don't bake too long even if they don't look browned.
