About this Cook
I'm a married mother of two. And I've always been drawn to the kitchen. Growing up my Mom made everything and anything- and made it all look so easy! And I wanted to be just like her when I grew up and had a family of my own. (hands down) My Mom is my biggest influence for my love of cooking and baking.
My favorite things to cook
Anything I can grill, Japanese, Italian, well, Mexican too. I love to bake. Okay, mabye I just love to attempt everything! My kitchen is for sure one of my favourite places to be!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love all my Mom's handed down recipes. Anything from her Spanish sauce for omellettes. Her stuffing for turkey. To her cinnamon buns- which we call Schnakanoodles!!! I could go on. So many great recipes.
My cooking triumphs
I was excited to come home after a trip to Philly. I was eager to try and 'clone' The Cheesecake Cafe's "Red Velvet Cheescake" that we fell in love with. I made it my husband's Birthday- complete with the raspberry coulis, when we got back to Canada, I had fun doing it, and it was awesome!
My cooking tragedies
I won't mention (blush) that I almost recently had a scary kitchen fire due to depriving a pot of cooking oil with a lid- then panicking and throwing some water on it because of the thick smoke that came billowing out! (which we ALL know NOT to do..) Let this be a warning to always have a small fire extinguisher in your kitchen!!!

Spinach Brownies
I have quite the collection of recipes in my pantry- this is such a keeper. My husband and I absolutley indulged in these tonight! We had steak, carrots and spinach brownies- I may never make Spanakopita again! (Ok that's a lie..) But, when you can make these- why would you want to bother with all the phyllo and wrapping? I added what I would to Spanakopita- garlic, salt, pepper, and some oregano. Also added freshly grated and regular parmesan cheese. Wow. Thanks for sharing!

Pecan Clouds
Just wolfed down my first two. I think I almost did everything you could possibly do wrong- and these still managed to come out good! :) I used dark brown Demura sugar- wrong. So, there was still 'grit" in the mix. I was nervous to overbeat the whites however, cause they were already pretty stiff. So I thought, Oh well, grainy meringue! I put them on 2 separate baking pans- both were stoneware with parchment paper ontop. I switched them from one rake to the other halfway thru. Left them in the oven turned off more than a half hour, cause I had to go pick up my son from school. All this, and the outside was kinda a crunchy, crust like texture. then the inside just was nutty, yummy, and melt in your mouthy.. I can't wait to share these with family and friends! Great recipe!!
