About this Cook
I'm a stay at home mom of 3 boys and a girl. My two oldest boys enjoy helping out in the kitchen at mealtime and occasionally argue about who's turn it is to help out.Above under hobbies I only had a choice for knitting but I really prefer crocheting. Everything from hats and booties to afghans and doilies.
My favorite things to cook
Spaghetti with garlic bread; roasts; a chicken alfredo recipe that is soooo addicting that the dish has been dubbed "Crack Chicken". I really enjoy holiday cooking too. Next Thanksgiving.... a stuffed turkey cooked on the smoker! MMMMMMMMMMMMM!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have a recipe for spicy spaghetti that my family absolutely LOVES! I make it in a huge batch and freeze it for later use.
My cooking triumphs
Well since we recently moved to Colorado I hope to someday add "Learning to cook at high altitudes" to this list. (lol) Its an entirely different experience for me!
My cooking tragedies
At 5 I had gotten up in the middle of the night and wanted to cook breakfast for my family. I put water, flour, various stuff in bottles, sugar and three food colorings in. I turned on the stove and stirred the contents. not long after my parents came in the kitchen and started chatting with me about what I was making, and telling how sweet the gesture was and writing down the recipe. Needless to say we didn't have my "gravy" in the morning.

Basic Chicken Salad
Great basic recipe! I did add chopped pineapple as we were out of grapes and substituted pecans. Loved it!

Cream Soup Base
I made this soup using canned milk diluted 1:1 with water instead of regular milk. To the base I added the recommended cheese and steamed broccolli but the potato sounded great too so I added canned potatoes. I also tossed in some canned beef I had sitting in the pantry removing as much of the fat as possible. I thought this would be a good soup from all the reviews but I was wrong. It was AWESOME! My husband and kids at it like ravenous wolves. Definitely the best cream base soup I have ever tasted! This recipe is going straight in my recipe box! I can't wait for lunch tomorrow! Leftovers!
