I made a double batch and substituted the crisco for all butter, it barely had flavor. And the dough was so sticky that no matter how much flour I put down it kept sticking to the counter. That's another thing- the flour taste is overpowering and the biscuits came out quite dry. I tried to stack 2 circles of dough and pinch the sides together in hope that they'd bake together and be much more fluffy. No luck- instead they baked as 2 complete biscuits with 1 side of each not being done at all. Many of them came out like small, hard hockey pucks. With the last remaining circles I had completely redone and squished into large balls of dough. They did come out higher and fluffier but still a strong flour taste. USE HONEY AND BUTTER OR JELLY/JAM to top them. Then atleast you get some flavor. I had to cook each tray full for 12mins and I give this recipe 2 stars for lack of expectations.
