My favorite things to cook
Chicken Paprikash, Chili, Beef Stew, Stromboli, Chicken and Dumplings, Hummus, Skyline dip, Mac & Cheese, Creamed Chicken on Busuits, Curry, Oatmeal No-bakes, Quesadillas, Chowder, Roasted or grilled Veggies... I love home cooking but I always add my own twist to things, and I'm always trying out slightly more gourmet approaches to dinner. Also a big fan of my crock pot.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Nana taught me to make Paprikash(from scratch everything, INCLUDING spaetzle), and that has been so crucial to my cooking skills. Creating that familial bond through food is something powerful that will stay with me forever! It's something we enjoy at many family get-togethers. The individual skills needed to prepare that dish have also carried over into other realms of my cooking abilities, which is great.
My cooking triumphs
I've always been pretty decent at cooking (started young) but the biggest sense of pride was making home-made foods for my ex's (extremely hard-to please) father and him enjoying them. Also the wonderful sense of love I feel any time I bring a big pot of chili over to my buddies' house and they all go nuts for it! I always tell them love is the secret ingredient, and putting that love into their tummies is the best!
My cooking tragedies
Making home-made peach ice-cream with my dad when I was about 8 and forgetting to add sugar... Not delicious. Also I was out of milk one time and tried to make a casserole creamy by adding cream of celery soup... Bad choice. I can laugh about it though!
