I learned to cook through trial and error when I had to cook dinner for a group home of adults with disabilities. Then through trial and error after I got married also!
My favorite things to cook
I love pork in nearly any form. Especially roasts and tenderloins, there are just so many options.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Not too many cooks in my family, dad can fire up a mean grill, and mom can fry nearly anything, but that about sums it up!
My cooking triumphs
Perfectly roasting my first chicken. Where the skin is crispy and the meat is at that perfect place where it just pulls away, and even the breast is still juicy and has a lemony/thyme aftertaste
My cooking tragedies
Tempura calamari.. Entirely too much cleaning because of a lack of instruction. ugh

Lick-the-Spoon Cilantro Jalapeno Aioli
My 3 year old picky eater loved this aioli. She literally licked the spoon and asked for more on her cumin turkey burger!

Chef John's French Toast
Very good! Baking it off gave it the crisp and crunch I like in french toast. No sogginess here! Plus the baking time gives me a chance to make whipped cream.

Baked Pancakes
I've been making this recipe for a long time, a very similar one was in an old Cooking For Two cookbook! I like to use the lemon juice then top it with boysenberry syrup and a dash of powdered sugar. I think the recipe could use a dash of vanilla extract to cut the flour/egg taste, if you're going a sweet route.
