Russian Tea Cakes III

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2013
These tasted raw in the middle although I cooked them for 15 minutes. I will not make them again.

Sue's Taco Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2013
I have been making this salad for years, and it is a favorite of mine and my family. I leave out the beans, and use plain tortilla chips, but everything else is the same. It makes a lot, but a big plate goes down quickly.

Chicken Tetrazzini for a Crowd

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2013
Oh, boy! Is this good or what? I left out the pimentos as I didn't have any. It would have been nice to have the color though. I scaled it down for 4 people, just used less of the ingredients. The pimentos would be required if making this for a crowd, as an eye pleaser. It would be nice to sub cream or milk for the chicken broth.

Slow Cooker Cheese Steaks

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2013
Wonderful sandwich! What made this so good is the white american cheese. Some east coasters use cheese whiz, which is not nearly as good. I do believe this is the best genuine Philly Cheese Steak I have eaten!

Southern Pecan Pie I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
This is the recipe of my mother's, except she used half corn syrup and half honey. Try it. This is a wonderful pie.

Hungarian Goulash II

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2012
This goulash is the way I remember it. I used a combination of chuck roast cubed and stew meat. I used regular paprika. We ate it over egg noodles. It did turn out good. I think I would reduce the salt by half. I seem to be sensitive to salt. The amount of brown sugar was perfect as it was not too sweet. I didn't let it thicken long enough, though, and wish I had as the sauce was pretty runny. I don't know that I will make it again.

Juicy Peach Crisp

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2012
You can't beat this peach crisp! I did leave out the almond extract as I do not like that flavor at all. I added a bit more cinnamon in its place. This recipe is very close to my Grandmother's recipe. It is oh so good!

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2012
Wonderful muffins! I made them exactly as written, and, therefore, I am qualified to review this recipe. If you make changes, don't put a review out here. Instead, submit a variation. It is a pet peeve of mine to read a lower rating with all kinds of changes made to the recipe, or any rating when changes are made. I thought they came out great. I love carrot cake, and this reminded me a lot of that.

Turkey Wraps

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
These wraps are pretty standard fare. It was the first time I used whole wheat torillas. I wished I had used flour ones as they are so much more tasty, less tough like the whole wheat. I left out the advocado nd the bacon because of a dieter in the house. Next time I'd add the bacon in like it calls for, but likely would still leave out the advocato.

Fabulous Fruit Salad

Reviewed: May 31, 2012
This was so good! The only thing I did differently was to use frozen peaches in place of the nectarine since I don't care for them. Gosh, it was good. I am not a yogurt fan, but it was great here. Yum! Additional comments: I made this a second time, still using peaches. I had used up all of the walnuts, so I added pecans instead. I used two tubs of yogart. It was once again wonderful. It will be a go-to recipe in the future as well.

Strawberry Cream Dessert

Reviewed: May 27, 2012
I thought this was awesome! I wonder why some pictures show it to be white when you use vanilla pudding. Mine was yellow. Doesn't matter the color. It is terrific! I made as directed.

Sausage Egg Squares

Reviewed: May 23, 2012
This turned out terrible. I have been making items with reduced-fat and using fat-free milk. Everything I have made with these items turns out terrible. I followed the recipe exactly with one exception. I didn't have reduced fat biscuit mix, so I used the regular. You know, this probably would be good using real ingredients. Fat free milk should be displayed in the store right next to the water. Life is too short to make recipes like this. I am very close to deciding to stop making low cal items since I end up throwing them away.

Banana Apple Muffins

Reviewed: May 23, 2012
I made these muffins for my step-daughter who is visiting. She is dieting. She will be here tonight. I tried one of the muffins, and they are terrible. I think it is because they are made to be low cal. I don't know what I would do to make them better. I think adding vanilla would be a plus. More sugar would be great, too, but that will increase the calories. The muffins were very dense.

No Roll Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2012
I followed the recipe exactly, and they turned out pretty good. They weren't very flavorful. I had to add a bit more flour, and the dough was still very soft. I would think you could never use thus recipe for rolled cookies.

Bland. Beans and wine have no place in real chili.

Fruit Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This turned out great. I doubled the recipe because I didn't think it would be enough. Turns out, a single recipe makes plenty. It was the rave of the party! I added a touch of vanilla, but I don't think it really needs that.

Yummy Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
This tasted bad. It was likely my fault because I used two jars of artichoke hearts thinking that would make it better. I don't recommend using 2 jars unless you are completely doubling the recipe. Others seemed to like it well enough, but I sure didn't.

Cinnamon Rolls III

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2011
I was expecting these to be moist because of the addition of the pudding, but they weren't. They were very dry. I should have added more filling, and maybe I baked them too long. I just couldn't risk having unbaked dough, so I let them go a little bit longer. The dough, however, was some of the best dough I have made with respect to rolling it out. It was so soft and silky, but it went downhill from there. I think I will try another recipe next time.

White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
This cake came out wonderfully! Using a boxed cake mix is the ONLY way to go. It is so much easier. Don't believe the snobs that say it taste like a boxed cake mix! How, exactly, does a boxed cake mix taste, especially with the addition of other ingredients? I am sure it turned out better than one made from scratch. My experience with the snob's scratch cakes is that they are dense and dry. No one has the nerve to tell them so. I recommend this recipe. I followed it exactly. Thanks for sharing it!
