Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2014
The seasoning for this dish is soooo good. Smells and tastes amazing! Only change I made was cutting the pork into chunks before putting it into the slow cooker.

Cajun Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 12, 2014
Great recipe as-is, but versatile! Try it with shrimp, sausage, etc. and you can use whatever pasta you have on hand. Add some cayenne for a little kick. Better than what you get at a restaurant!

Famous House Dressing

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2012
I scoured the internet for this recipe and this is it! So good! This recipe is for peope who have a sweet tooth, but you can start off with less sugar and add more to your taste. Thank you, AngelStar!

Old Fashioned Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
This was very good. I needed to add a little more sugar to suit my taste, but it's better to start low and add more. My younger kids didn't like it (4-7), but they don't know any better, and my oldest (11) thought it was great.

Emma's Belgian Waffles

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Yum! Two minor changes: 1. I didn't bother with beating and folding the egg whites, I just beat everything together and they were perfect. 2. I used a/p flour and 1 tbsp of baking powder. They are heavy on butter, but it makes the waffles a guilty pleasure. The best I've tried on this site, by far, and there are some good waffle recipes here!

Butter Icing for Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2011
Perfect! I used this with "Soft Christmas Cookies." I spread the icing on the cookies and the kids decorated them with different types of sprinkles. The kids loved the cookies and frosting!

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2005
I, like others, was skeptical of the ingredients but I was drawn in by the reviews. This salad was yummy. The sunflower seeds gave the salad a nice touch. My whole family, from my parents to my 3 and 4 year old daughters, loved it.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2005
First of all, I followed to directions exactly. The pretzel crust was sooo good. The middle layer was pretty good, but that gelatin layer on top was awful and totally did not taste right with the crust. We all picked the top layer off and just ate the bottom two. If I make this again, I will use sliced fresh strawberries and use strawberry glaze on top, and totally omit the gelatin.

Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: May 17, 2004
I made this recipe exactly as written for a party. I was kinda embarrassed about it. There wasn't enough cheese in it, it came out really dry and hard on top, and exactly how much salt and pepper should I put in it? I didn't know how much I should put in, I put in a little bit - and it was bland. I was scared I would put in too much if I kept adding more. The cheese mixture wasn't creamy, but more curdy like others had mentioned. It's a good base recipe, but next time I will add more cheese, re-guesstimate how much salt to add, and cover it while baking to help prevent that rock-hard layer of pasta on top, then maybe brown it under the broiler quickly. Leaving the oven on bake to brown dried it out, I think.

Easy Strawberry Lemonade

Reviewed: May 16, 2004
Sooo delicious! I tripled the recipe for a small party and everyone loved it. I did chop the strawberried up a bit before I added them to the lemonade. The kids and adults all thought it was very good. I would prepare this drink the morning of the day you want to serve it, it gives the strawberry flavor more time to mix with the lemonade. It doesn't really keep well for the next day unless you remove the strawberries before putting the drink in the fridge, the strawberries make it way too rich if you leave them in the pitcher overnight. I wouldn't suggest adding whole raspberries, they don't really have the right texture to blend in with the lemonade just by stirring like strawberries have. If you want to try them, although I never tried it, you may want to puree a few and add that to the lemonade and add more to taste. The recipe called for strawberries - to rate the recipe using entirely different ingredients is unfair.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
This is the best homemade recipe for pudding that I've found, but I still prefer a pudding snack pack to this recipe. I will be making this again if I have a craving for warm chocolate pudding. This recipe is really good served warm.

The Whole Jar of Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: May 15, 2004
These are awesome! When I read the recipe, I was afraid that a whole jar of peanut butter would be too overwhelming, but I was wrong. Great flavor, great texture - chewy and moist! I made another batch with semi-sweet chocolate chips - delicious!

Cake Mixes from Scratch and Variations

Yummy! Made the pineapple upside down cake, I did have to bake it 10 minutes longer than the directions said. I beat the eggs whites separately and folded them into the batter. It was fluffy and delicious.
