Italian Lasagna

Excellent lasagna. I use a bigger pan than what the recipe calls for, it really fills it up.

Bread Maker Doughnuts

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2011
Okay recipe but leaving the doughnuts in 350 degree oil for 3 minutes insures a burnt product. I found a minute and a half to be just about right.

Kosher Salt Encrusted Prime Rib Roast

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
I followed recommendations from other members by moistening the salt in order to aid the crust formation. I also kept salt off the ends to eliminate oversalting those pieces. Furthermore I started with an oven preheated to 500 degrees, cooking the roast for 5 minutes before lowering the temp to 210 for 4.5 hours. The roast came out wonderful. The next time I'll have it sit on the sideboard for a while at room temp. That seems to also help. All in all, a very good recipe and worth the effort.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Don't know what I did wrong but this was done WAY too early (2 hrs in the oven and the meat thermometer was hitting 200 degrees). Maybe the directions for covering the bird with foil assume the cook will be making a tent with both ends open. I covered the entire roasting pan with foil. When it was (over) done I had a very moist product that was swimming in the water I'd added (as per the recipe to my understanding). Since there are so many 5 star raves about this I'll conclude the fault lies with myself. I'd appreciate any feedback on what to do the next time. But until then I DO NOT plan on using this recipe again.

Spicy Brown Mustard Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
Not great but very good. I needed more bread crumbs than the recipe called for but other than that everything worked out fine.

Slow Cooker Reuben Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
Absolutely great. I used corned beef from the deli counter of our store, added a couple of tablespoons of horseradish and cooked it on low in the crockpot for 90 minutes. What wasn't eaten at my churchs men's meeting got polished off by the wife when I got home. It's a keeper.

Great recipe, easy and produces a tasty product. Users may want to add their own spices to juice it up a bit, otherwise this is a keeper.

Applesauce

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2010
I'm not a big fan of applesauce, but this is perfect. The only change made was to puree the apples, thats more a matter of personal taste than anything else.

Twice Baked Potatoes II

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
Easy to make and very tasty. I bake the potatoes at 500 degrees for an hour, this insures a crisp skin that is easy to cut and maintains it's shape well. In my opinion, the time in the oven isn't as important as the crispness of the skin. If you run a fork into the tater at the end of an hour and the skin is still soft, bake it some more. Let's face it, baked potatoes are fairly idiot proof as regards over cooking! Bon appetit!

Cantaloupe Bread with Praline Glaze

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2011
This was great! Because of my son's braces and nut allergies in other students at our parish school I couldn't add the pecans but even so this was a fantastic product. The next loaf will be strictly mine and will include pecans!

Stuffed Jalapenos III

Use a broiler pan lightly coated with PAM instead of a baking sheet. It allows the grease to drip off the peppers. In addition to that, anyone wanting peppers with a "kick" should get the smaller ones. My experience has been that large peppers are more bland.
