Cheesecake is one of my all time favorite desserts. I adore cherries, so marrying a cherry topping with a creamy cheesecake is pure Heaven in my book! One of the first cheesecake recipes I ever made was from the Good Housekeeping Illustrated Cookbook. It's a no fail recipe that tastes amazing.

If you've never baked a cheesecake, this is a great recipe to start on. There's no water bath required, so it's not an intimidating recipe either.

You can get this cheesecake recipe on Amanda's Cookin'.

That looks super delish. I'm scared of making cakes and sweets because I'll end up eating the whole thing. I made a carrot cake tonight but plan on taking it with me to work and praying that everyone else eats it. Pretty pictures.

Thanks! i'm like that too. I have a neighbor with 7 kids, I give her a lot of what I make. I wait till my kids get home, they have some, then I head over to her house LOL

About Me
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially cookies and cakes. :) I love cooking too, but I like to experiment, which can occasionally mean take out! ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in the convenience food era. My parents were divorced and I was a latch key kid. There weren't a whole lot of home cooked meals in my childhood, but lots of packaged and frozen goods. I try to make dinner every night for my family, though sometimes it's take out due to sports activities, etc. I'm envious of those that have their grandmother's recipes, I don't have anything like that.
My cooking triumphs
i've created a few recipes of my own, one I even won a contest for :) I love experimenting and finding new ways to combine flavors. I feel triumphant every time I bring something to my neighbors, they always give me rave reviews!
My cooking tragedies
I try to prepare whatever I can early in the day, so that the hectic afternoon is less... well, hectic! I tend to be pretty frugal, so I'm always pantry diving. I also menu plan every week, it saves me from A) running to the store in the middle of the week and B) getting take out.
