On Mother's Day my kids and I made the "Crispy and Creamy Doughnut" recipe here on All Recipes. I made only minor adjustments and used several different glazes. I rated it 5 stars, we just absolutely loved these. They were amazing and none went to waste! I will definitely be making MORE

About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love baking, especially cookies and cakes. :) I love cooking too, but I like to experiment, which can occasionally mean take out! ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
I grew up in the convenience food era. My parents were divorced and I was a latch key kid. There weren't a whole lot of home cooked meals in my childhood, but lots of packaged and frozen goods. I try to make dinner every night for my family, though sometimes it's take out due to sports activities, etc. I'm envious of those that have their grandmother's recipes, I don't have anything like that.
My cooking triumphs
i've created a few recipes of my own, one I even won a contest for :) I love experimenting and finding new ways to combine flavors. I feel triumphant every time I bring something to my neighbors, they always give me rave reviews!
My cooking tragedies
I try to prepare whatever I can early in the day, so that the hectic afternoon is less... well, hectic! I tend to be pretty frugal, so I'm always pantry diving. I also menu plan every week, it saves me from A) running to the store in the middle of the week and B) getting take out.

Crispy and Creamy Doughnuts
Loved these, they were excellent. I used SAF instant yeast because I use it for everything. I also needed a bit more flour than the recipe indicated, probably between 1/2 and 3/4 cup. otherwise totally perfect, absolutely delicious. I made a chocolate glaze, maple glaze, simple white glaze, the butter vanilla glaze in the recipe, and also cinnamon sugar and powdered sugar. YUM!

Irish Soda Bread
Marvelous, totally delicious. I will make this over and over. The dough was very sticky, like a loose cookie dough, but the bread/cake is absolutely perfect. I made the recipe as stated and wouldn't change a thing.

Macaroni and Cheese with Ham, Peas and Shallots
I made this with my own homemade mac and cheese recipe, and I put it in a baking dish topped with panko bread crumbs and baked 20 mins at 350. So yummy!
