About this Cook
I am a mother to 4 beautiful daughters and have been married to my husband for 17 years. We grow our own fruit and veg and keep chickens for the eggs and as pets. I love to save money, and at the supermarket will regularly buy reduced items and either use them immediately or freeze them. I have two freezers because of this, but do save lots of money, although I sometimes get a little obsessed!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything that is appreciated. I love my slow cooker because it is a godsend if I have a busy day scheduled. The meals most commonly cooked are varied, Fajitas, Hungarian Goulash, Spagetti Bolognese, Chow Mein and Chicken Korma but to name a few. I love to bake and I generally batch bake and freeze so that my family can enjoy their packed lunches at school/work.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I bake with the girls often and have started a new tradition. I have found that kids these days just don't know how to cook, so not only do my girls help me, but any successful recipe gets entered into "Mummy's Cook Book", which I will print out and give a copy to all of my girls when they eventually fly the nest.
My cooking triumphs
I can't really take credit for them because I generally do lots of research online, then take the best recipes and take ingredients from them all, so I can thank my online friends and those that take the time to submit to sites like this.
My cooking tragedies
Too numerous to name... who hasn't had any? My worst one has to be the first time I ever made toffee... the pan did not survive!!!

Irish Cream Liqueur II
This was just delicious! I started by making up a batch that was one fifth of the recipe, just to make sure that the recipe was the one I wanted to make as gifts for family at Christmas, it is definitely a keeper. I mixed one teaspoon of instant coffee granules with a very small amount of boiling water and I also added 1/4 teaspoon of almond essence and vanilla essence. I followed the recipe exactly apart from the above amendments. I can definitely recommend it and will be making up larger batches for gifts.

Indian Chapati Bread
An excellent all round flat bread. Use with wheat flour or just plain alone. I find that whilst the chapati needs to be slightly thicker, this same recipe is good for tortilla type wraps too which you can roll paper thin for the better wrap. This is my favourite version of bread as it is very cheap, quick and easy to make, from cupboard to plate in around 10 minutes. For a taste change, try adding a flavoured olive oil such as garlic or basil.
