Chocolate Pudding Fudge Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2005
Really easy recipe. I used the butter flavor chocolate cake mix because it was on sale and it was delicious. Even without the glaze this is a simple and moist cake. Cook for the full time indicated and add a couple of tablespoons flour for high-altitudes. I floured my bundt pant with hot chocolate so it would not look like flour on the outside of the cake.

BBQ Potato Roast

These are OK... not visually appealing and tasted boring. Needed lots more spices to make them better - but will try them again with modifications.

Deb's Spicy Summer Evening Mushrooms

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2004
Tasted too strongly of soy sauce and vinegar - next time I would just brush the mushrooms with this mixture - definitely wouldn’t let them soak in it!

Texas Sheet Cake V

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2004
An easy recipe for a good, basic sheet cake. Use a 9x11 pan or double the recipe because 10x13 made for a very thin cake!

Lisa's Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake

Very easy - a moist chocolate cake. I used cocoa instead of flour to prepare the pan and put nuts on the bottom for presentation. Not five stars, but an excellent cake.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2004
This is a pretty good recipe with some modifications and a combination of other users’ suggestions. It’s like Mexican lasagna. Halve the recipe for a standard 9X11 pan. I used salsa for texture, not taco sauce. I used one regular sized can refried beans and one black beans - again for texture or it’s a mushy mess. I used regular tortillas but overlapped a lot (if not - it’s a mushy mess). I did not mix in the beans with the meat, but I instead spread the beans on the tortillas, laid them face down on the pan, and then added the meat on top. Nothing fancy or amazing about this one. A quick and easy dish for a group.

Coconut Ambrosia Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
I doubled the recipe and made this for thirty people at a baby shower - it was a huge hit! There were NO leftovers! I took the advice of many other reviewers added pecans and apples (with skins - but no celery!), added red and green grapes, used less cool whip, used low fat cool whip, strained the canned fruit overnight, added a large box of pistachio instant pudding to the whipped topping and substituted sour cream for the milk - made it very thick and creamy, not runny at all, and the colors of the fruit looked great - together it was a perfect combination! I tossed it lightly with my hands and it was so simple. You can't go wrong with this recipe - add any fresh fruit you want!

Feta Cheese Foldovers

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2003
My Greek mom would kill me if she knew I was making tiropites (feta cheese puffs) this way but this is a simple recipe when you are in a hurry for something flaky and hot for an appetizer. I used pastry sheets cut into squares, but they have to be thawed out well so you can fold them over and so that the fork marks keep the sides stuck together. You get a lot of pastry and only a little filling with this method of making cheese puffs, but they are pretty and flaky and people really enjoyed them.

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2003
Every once in a while you run across a recipe that truly lives up to its rating -- this is one of them! This is a super easy and super delicious oatmeal cookie recipe. I used nutmeg instead of cloves (I didn't have any!), and they were irresistible. I cooked them for only 10 minutes and they were perfectly chewy. A 5 star recipe - thank you!

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2003
Good recipe, and easy, but I wouldn't say its the best ever. The rosemary is quite strong, so make sure you like rosemary a lot before adding it! Also next time I would use the recommendation of another user that said to put the herbs in a tied coffee filter to make it easier to serve - the au jus needed to be strained a few times. I trimmed all fat from the roast I used, otherwise it would have been a quite fatty.

Chicken Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2003
Another easy version of your basic chicken-cream of chicken-pasta recipes. Very easy to make but a little plain. I used low fat soups, more noodles than suggested and a 9x13 pan and had plenty for leftovers. I will make again and use mushrooms like other reviewers suggested.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2003
Easy, but entirely too sweet and rich. They are like a bug huge pan of peanut butter cups. Not a healthy snack, and just too rich for dessert. I melted the peanut butter for about 30 seconds in the microwave which made it really easy to mix everything together. I used more chocolate chips also like other reviewers suggested. It was fun to make once, but I won't make it again.

Make Ahead French Toast

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2003
Easy recipe that serves very nicely to a large group. I didn't know how to lay the bread - flat, layering the bottom of the pan, or stacked like you'd traditionally stack French toast. So I cut the bread in smaller pieces and laid them flat on the pan. No wonder I had so much milk left (I didn't use a lot of bread this way!)! I didn't use all of the milk mixture because of what I read in other posts but next time I will use it all, to make the toast softer. Next time I will use Texas toast, cut the bread in "boats" (triangles), stack the bread in the pan, use all the milk mixture, because it was fantastic and the large party I served loved it and I could have had more this way. Tastes like cinnamon rolls - only less mushy!

Zippy Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2003
Excellent recipe. Very easy and serves to a large group nicely. Not the healthiest but breakfast is sometimes hard to make healthily. I used spicy italian sausage and my husband said not to change that. I also used some extra bread crumbs on bottom because I used a deep pan and didn't have enough croutons, and everything cooked well together. I also used regular mustard. Next time I will use potatoes and add some mushrooms or green peppers for a little differnt color and texture.

Chicken a la King I

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2003
This was so easy and so good! I used the frozen Peppridge Farms pastry puffs and sprinkled with pepper and they were beautiful to serve! Low-fat butter and skim milk did not change the taste at all. The pimentos are a must - it needs the color or else it looks like chicken soup. I tried it once with canned chicken (I know - yuck! but I was in a hurry) and it was just DE-LISH! I am going to make it again soon.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2003
One of the best salads I have ever had! Extremely easy to make, and serves beautifully. I used white cooking wine once instead of vinegar, and it came out fantastic as well. Balsamic also worked well. The combination sounds strange but it is a delightful, sweet but not overpowering salad that is very refreshing! Thanks for the recipe.

Apple Dump Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2002
This is like a super-easy apple crisp. It was fabulous and very easy. It is even better with plain yellow cake mix. Also I added oats once and it made it taste and look just like an old-fashioned apple crisp recipe! Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Spiders

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2001
This was a pretty cute idea -- I had a tough time getting the chow mein in for the legs, so I sprayed a fork with nonstick spray and used that to punch the holes first. I tried the melted choclate, but it just wasn't quite enough so I bought some chocolate "Candy Qwik" dipping chocolate, melted that and used it in the same fashion. They were a big hit because they were so cute - but marshmellows and noodles are a slightly odd combination!
