2-Step Cheesy Pasta Twists

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2010
Nice start for a pasta recipe. I used macoroni instead of twists since it was all I had. I'm not sure if the pasta shape affected it or not, but I had to add a can of plain tomato sauce to make it less dry. I also used a different sauce since I don't like Prego.

Italian Bow Tie Supper

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2010
Pretty good recipe. Easily customizable. I do regret, however, the spinach. I had a perfect tomato sauce going on, but the spinach ruined it. :( I might add something with a less leafy taste, or nothing at all. I also added one additional can of sauce and a can of diced tomatoes. Glad I did, because It needed it. Another bit of advice: the longer you cook it, the better. If you don't cook it very long, the spices won't have a chance to really soak into the sauce, and it will taste bland.

Cheese Lovers' Lasagna

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
Really good recipe! But I didn't have the heart to use cottage cheese or American cheese in lasagna, so I left out the American and used ricotta in place of the cottage cheese. Very simple but nice!

Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
Very yummy. But I do agree that Parmesan cheese should be listed as an ingredient, because it definately makes the soup.

Good taste with few ingredients. We threw some chicken and Italian seasonings, and it made a wonderful pasta dinner!

Creamy White Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I would not recommend following this recipe exactly. Usually I add salt to taste, but this one time I followed the recipe and I regret it. With the wine and the salt it tasted like ocean water. I used a cooking wine, so the extra salt was probably not necessary, but I didn't realize it until it was too late. I also could have used a lot less wine. I had to add a ton of milk to the sauce to make it edible. Next time, IF I make this again, I'm going strictly by taste. Be careful if you try this recipe.

Orange Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Nice and simple. I didn't even bother with corn starch because there wasn't enough sauce to fuss over. But the carrots still tasted good, with just a touch of orange flavor. I wouldn't change a thing.

Chocolate Pudding Cake IV

Reviewed: May 17, 2010
I didn't like the taste at all. It wasn't sweet enough and I could taste too much of the sour cream in it. The batter tasted better than the cake.

Bacon Cheeseburger Upside Down Pizza

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2010
I noticed this is one of those recipes that the leftovers taste better than the just cooked version. Don't get me wrong. It was still good, and can be great with a couple adjustments. First of all I like the idea of using some refrigerated crescent roll dough to lay on top instead of using a batter. The crust was a little mushy underneath, and I think a dough would prevent that. I also think it could've uses a little more of a kick. Some hot sauce or chilli powder would probably do the trick.

Apple Stuffed Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
Good recipe. This was my second time stuffing chicken. It was a little sloppy, but tasted fine. The filling was a little bland, even with sharp cheddar. I might try adding a strong spice to it next time, like Rosemary or sage. And I might also add a can of mushrooms to the gravy.

Chicken and Herbs in White Wine

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
This turned out to be an excellent meal. As with any recipe you need to adjust the spices to your taste, which is why I started out with half the amount of spices and added more as I saw fit. I also did not get scary white or green chicken at all. The presentation was beautiful. I made this with wings and thighs, and the broth made an excellent gravy for rice. I do not recommend using wings, but a fleshier pieces if you go that route, like breasts or thighs. Thanks for sharing!

Peanut Butter Fingers II

Very good! They sorta taste like chocolate covered granola bars. My only complaint is that the bars are hard to cut into. Maybe melting the sugar with the butter would help that.

Lemon Cooler Cream Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2010
VERY lemony. Almost too lemony for me. It still turned out OK though, and it's a nice treat in the 100+ degree weather we had. Sprinkled some sweetened coconut flakes on top which added a nice touch. If I were to make it again, I'd use plain white cake.

Big Ed's Cajun Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2010
I was a little skeptical about a soup with V8 and clam juice, but it turned out great! I added more spices and hot sauce to cover up some of the fishy taste the shrimp added. Also threw in half a bag of frozen okra to make an even hartier soup. I was full after two bowls! Served it up with pieces of a fresh loaf of crusty Italian bread. BTW, it took me forever to find the clam juice. I found it with the canned tuna and sardines.

Chicken with Lemon Sauce

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2010
Amazing! The chicken had a nice brown crust that had almost a nutty flavor to it. Make sure you keep the left over crust mixture on hand in case you have a problem with it flaking off like I did. The pan sauce was excellent!

Tarragon Mushroom Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
Wow! This made a fabulous dinner with some rice on the side. The sauce made a lovely gravy, and didn't taste bland to me at all. All you need is a little salt and pepper to adjust to your taste, like with any food. Instead of cream of chicken I used cream of mushroom soup. Turned out great and definately will make again! Nice first experience of Tarragon!

Death by Chocolate and Caramel

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2010
Delish and rich! Instead of a chocolate bar I used chocolate chips because it was all I had. As for the caramel, I used caramel ice cream topping. The brownies turned out so chewy and gooey, and rich! Thanks for the recipe!

Tomato and Zucchini Melange

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
A good start. It was a little bland. I had the same thing when I stayed in France, but this is not the same at all. I'll attempt it again, only I'll add garlic and cook the veggies a bit longer so the spices have a chance to soak in.
