About this Cook
There's little else I love more in life than feeding people....I don't like making many dishes the exact same way twice(usually I can't because I'm a cook who like to open her cupboard & "wing it") Hearing that something I've made is delicious is almost impossible to top in my book...
My favorite things to cook
chicken 1000+ ways....stir-fry,grilled,baked,slow cooked....anything sweet & savory as well....
My favorite family cooking traditions
Many dishes I had growing up were made the same way time & again (& I LOVED them) but now, w/a family of my own, I'm enjoying experimenting w/some of these "classic" dishes(for instance, see my boiled dinner casserole in my recipe box!!!!!!!)
My cooking triumphs
After throwing a party for my new(at the time) b-friends family, I was asked if I would cater an upcoming b-day celebration.....The 1st time a recipe of mine got 5 stars(on this site!!!!)

Sweet and Spicy Curry with Chickpeas
I do add a 2nd can of chickpeas if using the 2lbs of meat....the time I only made it w/1lb was a big mistake,as I can't stand not having leftovers of this dish.I have always used the Thai style sweet chili sauce,as that's what I thought was being called for,but based on comments,I wonder if I was supposed to b using the very different Heinz ketchupy chili sauce (doesn't matter because I'll never change it now) Like others suggest,I use the remainder coconut milk when cooking up jasmine rice to serve this with. I also like to top it w/a lil cilantro & chopped peanuts,if handy. The brands of (reg)curry powder out there,I found out, vary greatly in heat factor, some not spicy at all....I didn't know this,& the type I use here is spicy compared to what I've bought before....that's ok,the flavour is so good,& the heat is balanced by the addition (I guiltily added to recipe) of some raisins & diced mango.... Despite the heat,my kids always ask for 2nds(not to step on toes, but the addition of the fruit is Wonderful!) so forgive me if I did add my own spin, but thank u SO much for what has become one of my most favourite dishes(& this from a gal who IS NOT a ground turkey fan)

French Baguettes
I was looking for a bread recipe that would be the vessel for our french dip sandwiches tonight.....WOW! Upon the first taste, i thought i'd skip the sandwiches & just have bread & butter for dinner...This is the best textured bread I've ever made[could have something to do w/not having bread flour before now :)] I did not use a bread machine, just used my stand mixer...My only complaint, & I don't fault the recipe, is that every time i make french bread(& this was no different) my loaves are rather flat...It wasn't too dense, so i know it's not bad yeast or anything...If anyone has any thoughts as to what i may be doing wrong, please share... Great recipe...Oh, & i took one reviewers advice & added salt after kneading & rest....

Spicy Chinese Barbeque Riblets
I had bnless pork ribs(3 lbs,& cheaper than baby back) & hoisin that i wanted to pair up & this was awesome! I made the sauce, set half aside, & put it, & the ribs in my crockpot on low for about 5-6 hrs (got them tender, but not falling apart) I did this the evening before, then the night of, took them out of the fridge,& while letting them come to room temp, I prepared asian potato salad(recipe on here) as well as a brocc salad... I put the ribs on foil-lined baking sheet, & broiled them on low(w/oven door open)brushing w/sauce every couple of minutes, turning after carmelizing one side...I did sub about 2tsp siracha, instead of tabasco, i think it's more "asian-y", & I have lil kids, so i couldn't make it too spicy...My hubby RAVED about the sauce...Yes I strayed slightly w/the ingredients, & cooked it in a manner more convenient for me, But this is an awesome recipe! Next time bb back ribs go on sale, I'll certainly try this w/them! Thanks
