My parents are Missionaries who have traveled the world and lived in many states, so I've tried a wide variety of food traditions. I also got a lot of practice in the kitchen while I was a cook at a camp for a few years.
I grew up a hunter/farmer, but after a trip to Africa in 2006 I became a strong Vegetarian and it's been nothing but wonderful.
My favorite things to cook
I substitute any meat ingrediends with Boca or Morning Star brands.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My Grandmother came straight from Norway and brought back a handful of recipes that the whole family prepares each holiday. I get really excited about lefse, rice pudding, krumkake, marzipan, kringla and crepes suzettes!
My cooking triumphs
After a trip to Istanbul, I wanted to see if I could make Turkish Delights.. And it was a taste of heaven.
