Peanut Butter and Banana Frosting

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Yum, yum, yum! This was a great recipe. I didn't add the butter flavor, since I didn't have any. And I mashed the bananas up and added them to the frosting. Was awesome on a chocolate cake!

Bacon Wrapped Smokies

These are absolutely fabulous. If you make them, make sure you make a lot because they will go fast! They're also great leftover!!

Oatmeal Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2010
Awesome! You have to try these. I'm not even a big fan of oatmeal cookies, but these changed my mind. Took the suggestion of others, and refrigerated them after baking. I think it brought the flavors of the filling together better so that it didn't taste like shortening.

Pumpkin Bread Puddin'

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2010
I know it's totally unfair to rate a recipe when I've totally changed it, but that's one of the great things about this site - you can get other ideas. I just took this out of the oven, and can't quit "taste testing" it. I think I may have to make another one for the guests! I used 2 whole eggs, canned pumpkin pie mix, 1 t pumpkin pie spice, left out all of the other spices and chocolate chips. Doubled it in a casserole dish, and sprinkled it with brown sugar and cinnamon. Unbelievable!!

Black Bean Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
This was an awesome alternative to brownies. I did make some changes to increase the flavor and make it a bit healthier: 1/2 c applesauce instead of the oil, 1/2 c cocoa powder, 3 t vanilla extract, 1/2 c splenda, 1/4 c brown sugar, 2 t instant coffee. I meant to add a tsp of baking powder, but forgot. They were very thin, but still good. I don't know why everyone's complaining about the texture. I didn't find anything wrong with it; it's like a cake-brownie. And no matter how hard I tried, I could NOT taste the beans. My 9 year old step-son despises beans, and he ate the whole pan within 24 hours, even knowing what was in it. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for something healthy to fix a chocolate craving!!

Cranberry Kuchen

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
YUMMY! I was a little worried about the way this would turn out, because the dough was very sticky, and I couldn't figure out how to pat it on top of the egg mixture in the pans without the egg mixture getting on top of the dough. It didn't seem to matter! The flavors go together so well! I made it as is, and sprinkled a little brown sugar on top of the toppping. So good! I think next time I may add some vanilla to the egg mixture, and maybe some almond extract to the cranberry mix for just a little more flavor. And I baked it for 45 minutes. You won't be disappointed, and don't half it! You'll want both pans!

Macaroni and Cheese with Caramelized Onions and Bacon

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2010
This was so yummy! My husband doesn't even like macaroni and cheese, but gobbled this up. Only change I made, was I doubled the topping, and used Havarti cheese because I couldn't find Asiago. Takes a while to make this one, but it's worth it!

Quick Hoppin' John Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2011
I thought this was yummy, but my husband didn't like it. I used Rotelle tomatoes for the diced tomatoes, and added some onion, green pepper, and celery when browning the sausage, but kept everything else the same. I thought it was hearty, and the flavors were excellent. It was even better the next day!

Pineapple Cranberry Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2011
This was a really good, easy recipe. I always brine the chicken before cooking it. I mixed the pineapple and cranberry sauce together and poured it over the chicken, and didn't add the cinnamon. There was enough moisture to keep it juicy. I served it over quinoa - it was sweet and yummy with all of the extra sauce!

Maple Walnut Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2011
This was delicious. I made it for Thanksgiving, and everyone raved about it. Next time, I think I will increase the maple flavoring to 2 tsp. I did have to bake it an extra 10-15 minutes because mine took a while to set in the middle. Thanks for the recipe!

Snow Covered Crunch Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2010
This is a good recipe. The reason I'm giving it 4 stars is because it didn't meet my expectations. I was expecting an even better way to have puppy chow. Even though the flavors are all there, if you want puppy chow, make that - this just isn't the same and didn't satisfy my craving for it. I took it to a pot-luck, though, and everyone loved it, and it's all gone. I'll make it again, just not when I'm in the mood for actual puppy chow.

It's Chili by George!!

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
This was an okay good chili. I expected it to be a bit spicier than it was, and to have more flavor based on all of the rave reviews. Probably won't make again.

Hot Chocolate Mix II

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2010
Not impressed. Definitely not chocolate-y enough. I ended up adding 2 pkgs of chocolate pudding, like others suggested, and 1/2 c cocoa, and still didn't like it. Won't be making this again.

Famous Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2011
Highly disappointed in this recipe. I had such high hopes for it too. My husband and step-son wouldn't eat it. It was way too salty. I used Ritz vegetable crackers to try to add more flavor, and cut the butter down to 1/4 c as others suggested, but it had no flavor.
